How Are The Beds On The Emerald?

We are hoping that they upgraded the inside cabins to at least decent. Although, never having cruised with Princess my only knowledge of bed comfort is secondhand.

We did request a pillowtop which the CSR said was put in and will be there when we arrive.

But if I need an egg crate, I need to hit Wallyworld now. Thanks bunch.

Have sailed on Emerald twice in the last 3 months. Both times requested a bed topper. Neither time was it necessary. The mattress had the attached mattress pads.

I am sorry, this question is not related to the beds. I ask because I see you recently sailed on Emerald Princess.

Did you use their laundry room? If so, do the washers and dryers take the "real" quarters? I was on Royal Princess last year, and their machines only take Princess tokens (there is a machine in the laundry room that you need to use your room card to get tokens).

The Mattress is replaced on an ongoing basis throughout the fleet, unless its a brand new ship they will never all been replaced at once.

Ain't that the truth! I only heard of passengers on the Crown having pillowtop mattresses but not ours last week. :(

The eggcrate pads I've experienced were broken down & provided no extra comfort to me. I requested a pillowtop pad from our cabin steward & it improved my comfort greatly. :)

Being EXTREMELY honsest...we were in a suite many times on the Emerald and the mattresses "SUCK".

We feel that you pay all that money for a suite, and we did 30 days, that you should have a very good mattress.

They switched them out and it was even worse!!!! Put towels underneath, etc. and nothing worked. A big hole.

Princess is aware there mattresses are bad and still don't do anything. I don't understand. I think more people need to complain.

requested a pillowtop mattress or a pillowtop for a mattress. I apologize if I am not clear.

There is no way to request a pillowtop mattress before the cruise & the last time I tried was unable to request in advance a pillowtop pad which I requested from our cabin steward.

I think mattresses are like food...subjective. My DH says the mattress hurts his back. I, on the other hand, have never been uncomfortable (9 cruises, 6 different ships). I lie down, go to sleep and don't wake up till morning.:D

Exactly what i said when read the post up top.

I slept like rock all seven nights. Great cruise, great food, great service, and great fellow passengers.

We were on the Emerald about 3 weeks ago. The washers and dryers takes real quarters.

We've found the mattresses on the Emerald as well as others to be very hard. We now travel with a 2 inch queen size memory foam mattress. How do we get it there? Put it in a space bag, vacuum out the air and it'll fit into your carry-on luggage. It becomes my carry on and my backpack is my personal item. If you're lucky the airline will offer to check the "roll aboard" for free.

When disembarking just ask your cabin steward to suck the air from the space bag and repack it. Simple and effective. We've been doing this for years.
