Kaibocan Posted January 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2015 Does the Regal & the Royal rock more than usual? I realize of course that all ships rock to some degree. However, some on this board claim it is excessive. If so, I wonder why? Or were the seas just rough on their cruise? Thanks I appreciate any info you can give Sent from my iPad using Forums

If anything, the Regal and Royal are the smoothest ride we have experienced on a Princess ship. :D
Daisyloo Posted January 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2015 We cruised on the Regal in November and never noticed any rocking. just normal ship motion.
Carolyn R Posted January 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2015 Nope. I found the Royal to be the most stable and smooth of any ship I have ever sailed. This includes a transatlantic and a cruise out of NYC down to the Caribbean. I am someone who enjoys feeling some motion of the ocean and most of the time felt like I was in a hotel on land. Working 2 Cruise Posted January 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2015 Also, what's considered rough by some may not be... Some people react to motion differently.
Loonbeam Posted January 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2015 During rough seas we definitely noticed some motion at the very front, but nothing out of line with other ships if not better. Aft and midships seemed very stable. That said, if you are looking for rock stable, try the Breakaway. That ship was almost TOO stable, when it finally moved it startled you! Astro Flyer Posted January 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I've sailed nearly a month on the Royal during repositioning cruises (w/b TA & s/b east coast/Caribbean) & it was very stable. Some passengers commented it was "too calm" & they missed the gentle rocking to sleep at night. ;)
Cruz Crazi Posted January 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 25, 2015 We were on the Royal in November did a 10 day Southern Caribbean and never felt any rocking. As a matter of fact we had to miss Princess Cay because of swells. Still didn't feel any different motion.

CI66774 Posted January 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 25, 2015 On the Transatlantic/Baltics last April, I had a cabin the front of the ship and we had some rough seas crossing the Atlantic. I was a rocking and a rolling up there but tolerable. I had to take some anti-nausea meds the first few days but it didn't bother me.
Colo Cruiser Posted January 25, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2015 The Regal was very stable on our Med cruise.
HRPro Posted January 25, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 25, 2015 We've sailed on the Royal and the Regal and found them to be very smooth with very little motion. Of course we were blessed with good weather for both cruises and had midship cabins so YMMV.
jrzebird Posted January 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I did the repo on the Royal this year and never felt any movement at all. I've done this repo a few times and this is the first time it was this smooth (OK, I can't count the Sandy cruise). I've often wondered if it was so calm because of the sea or because of the ship. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 25, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 25, 2015 Our Med cruise was very smooth on the Regal. Even during a storm, motion was hardly felt. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
