heatherandfred Posted January 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I'm about to take a cruise to nowhere with my family for the first time and I usually do a cash deposit on my account on board. How much do you recommend I put down? it's only for two nights. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Ewoodspark Posted January 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Would it not be easier to pay by credit card for such a little cruise
cb at sea Posted January 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2015 We drink, so I'd put down (or bring) at least $500...whatever you don't spend can go home with you!
garycarla Posted January 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Would it not be easier to pay by credit card for such a little cruise Totally agree. BUT - there are those that a) Can not get a credit card b) Have a card, but is already maxed out (probably should not be cruising) c) Do not carry a credit card because they are unable to control and manage their personal spending d) Have some personal reason not to have a card including those that think they are expensive (not), or evil Some of those reasons are valid of course. Some are... well....their decision.
kroozbuddy Posted January 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2015 This past September we only put like $300 on the room, went over by like $18. Went down the night before getting home, paid the balance, all done.
Rare mizLORInj Posted January 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Fred, here's what I found on the NCL site, so this is the answer: Cash/Traveler's Checks Procedures You can deposit cash or US Traveler's Checks into your onboard account. A cash deposit may be placed on your account in the following amounts: 7 day cruises - $300/person Less than 7 days - $150/person More than 7 days - $450/person Once you have exceeded the deposited amount, your account will be closed to further charges. You can deposit as much money as often as you'd like throughout the cruise, however, refunds cannot be made until the day of disembarkation for any excess. US Traveler's Checks can be cashed onboard and are the same as cash. **Personal checks will not be accepted, nor can they be cashed onboard. See you tomorrow! :) Edited January 30, 2015 by mizlorinj
kroozbuddy Posted January 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2015 Just from my two times being on NCL ships that's all just suggestions. We have put less than those amounts, we have went over the amount we had on and got our cash back before disembark day...
