jsf Posted February 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Formal dress is described on Celebrity's web site, should be 2 formal nights for 7 day cruise. J.
Jane2357 Posted February 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2015 Yes there will be a formal night - how many will be determined by the length of your cruise. 7 nights have two and 14 nights have 3.

dkjretired Posted February 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2015 7 day cruise will have 2 . 14 night cruise might even have 4 . According to the chart on the web site 14 days have three, they don't do 4 until 16 day cruises.

jelayne Posted February 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2015 On our Alaska cruise last year formal night was much like formal night on Any other itinerary, cocktail dresses, pants & fancy tops for ladies. Men mostly suits, jackets, saw a few tuxedos and long dresses.
Northern Aurora Posted February 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2015 7th June on Infinity! My question re formal is are they as formal as other cruises or more relaxed? We have completed over 20 Celebrity cruises and three were Alaska cruises. I've found that dress over all on the Alaska itineraries was more casual, including formal nights. While many folks did dress for formal night I thought that overall there weren't as many tuxes and nice gowns on the Alaskan itineraries as I've observed on other itineraries. dabear Posted February 15, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) On our Alaska cruise formal nights were more casual than other X cruises. I used a sport coat and had no problem. Edited February 15, 2015 by dabear
Bruin Steve Posted February 15, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Over my years of cruising, I've noticed "formal" loosening up a bit...but more on lines other than Celebrity... For me, I'm planning on NOT packing the tux this time... But I'm probably packing the black blazer with black slacks and a black tie...which tends to give me a similar formal appearance, but without having to deal with studs, cuff links, cummerbund, bow tie and slick tuxedo shoes... But, I really wish they'd do away with formal nights entirely...Oceania doesn't have them at all...our most recent two short cruises on Princess didn't have them...our Xpedition Galapagos cruise in July won't have them... Nowadays, with strict airline luggage limits and charges for overweight or extra luggage, it's nice not to have to pack all that extra formal stuff... ...and the casual stuff holds up much better packed into the suitcase. The formal wear just wrinkles and looks bad...
