hawkeyetlse Posted February 11, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 11, 2015 It's actually the homeless people roaming the ship who pick up the used cups that are left out.The ship is full of homeless people on disembarkation day ;)
RedRover96 Posted February 11, 2015 Author #27 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We do have plenty of insulated glasses, however they are Tervis. What I'm bringing on the cruise aren't, bought the new ones on a closeout they appear to be of good quality, simply figure need to leave some stuff behind because of packing space. And we plan on using them up to the final morning for coffee. Thanks for everyone's response, RedRover96
hawkeyetlse Posted February 11, 2015 #28 Share Posted February 11, 2015 And we plan on using them up to the final morning for coffee. Then I would just leave them on a table in your disembarkation lounge when they call your color. Maybe they will find a new home, maybe they will end up in a trash vortex in the middle of the ocean. Everything ends up there sooner or later anyway. If you buy any small fragile trinkets it might be useful to hang on to one of the cups to transport them safely home.
Trevor Fountain Posted February 11, 2015 #29 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I've got an old bed that I'm replacing. Seems a shame to throw it away. Do you think it would be ok to bring it with me and leave it for the cabin steward?
mein18 Posted February 11, 2015 #30 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Why not donate them to HAL? They could use them as ashtrays on their balconies. Posted in poor taste, senseless, childish and certainly uncalled for. OP was looking for constructive answers. Donating to children at last port would be a great idea. Wish I had thought of that on our last cruise.
Barb Nahoumi Posted February 11, 2015 #31 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Donate them to you local homeless shelter or shelter for a bused and battered women. This is the best idea, yet.
kcwingwalker Posted February 11, 2015 #32 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Oh, for crying out loud. Throw the used two dollar cups in the trash. The steward won't need therapy because of this. Everyone will be just fine. LMAO. Thank you!:)
zqvol Posted February 11, 2015 #33 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I just love the way that people think that the room stewards do anything with the stuff that is left behind other than throw it away. People it all goes in the trash.
OceanDreaming2 Posted February 11, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 11, 2015 When I leave the ship, I use the camper's motto of leaving everything as I found it. I don't leave hangers, shampoo, tumblers, etc. for the ship's crew to dispose of; just bring it back home. And I especially like the thought of donating to a battered woman's shelter. Kingofwylietx Posted February 12, 2015 #38 Share Posted February 12, 2015 While not necessarily helpful, some of the responses were pretty funny. I would just leave them.....and let the universe decide what happens to them.
swedish weave Posted February 12, 2015 #39 Share Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) If you have ever taken the "Behind the scenes tour" you would know how they handle the items that are no longer usable. They are either crushed, ground up and recycled, or burned. Having said that, many items some of you consider trash can be a blessing for others who don't have the means to have everything new. On my fishing trips to Mexico, I have left many items including used clothing, fishing gear, thermos bottles etc. These items were accepted graciously and put to good use. No embarassment or guilt. Leave what you don't want to take home and it will be handled. Edited February 12, 2015 by swedish weave
triptolemus Posted February 12, 2015 #40 Share Posted February 12, 2015 I would leave them... at home. Drink coffee out of the same cups thousands of passengers drink out of each day. I am always amazed at the things people say they pack. For th first time, DW and I will attempt to do 2 days on a ship, plus 2 days land with one backpack each -- carry on only. No tumblers required...
