this is our 2nd Carnival cruise, and I hope it will be much better than the one we had on the Freedom last year in January! When we booked our Carnival cruise planner said she was being updated. As long as Victory has some really good food we'll be happy!

I have been on 6 Carnival cruises, but only have been on one with the 2.0 things, that being my most recent one last November on the Freedom. It was a fantatastic cruise, had hardly a negative to report. Just a wonderful 8 day cruise, and I did enjoy a couple of those Guy Burgers, and one trip to Blue Iguana Cantina, but honestly, I can say that for me...I can live without those two venues, as well as Red Frog Bar (I went there on the Freedom also), and the Alchemy bar just has no appeal to me.

So, for me..it really makes no difference if the ship gets those so called upgrades or not. I actually always enjoyed the old hamburger/hot dog grill, and could always make myself a decent burger with the basic ketchup, mustard and relish offerings.

I am going on Victory later this year, and have no doubt that I will find more than enough food to keep me happy.

I agree with you the 2.0 venues are not as much the draw for me as I thought. Just got off the breeze and they had those refurbishments as it is fairly new, but truthfully the lines were so long at these new venues for food it wasn't work the stress of waiting 35 minutes or more for a burger as they were greasy and the fries were soaked in grease, not crispy. So I got to try it and they weren't the best. I wouldn't wait again. The other new bar venues same issue, nothing spectacular. I actually realized the older ships that I loved with the burgers and hot dogs by the pool were so much better. Nice if they are updated but I realized it is not going to be the reason I book a certain ship any longer.

Up until my December cruise on the Breeze I had always been on Fantasy class (10 cruises) and I can say I will never go back! I LOVED the burrito bar for breakfast and lunch and LOVED Bonsai Sushi. Those two things alone are reason enough for me to not sail on a ship without them. Also, LOVED spending quiet time in the Spa area.

I agree.. we have not sailed with the 2.0 so we won't know any difference. This will be our grandchildren's first cruise this Thanksgiving. They won't know any difference either. I will be so excited and happy to see their little faces when we arrive at port. I just can't wait!!!!! I am thinking maybe won't be as crowded since others will want the bigger ships and the 2.0!!!!!!

We have also never gone hungry and I was worried about lines and waiting with 2 little ones so this solves that problem! Any cruise is great and we will be going to 2 ports we have never been so we are more excited about that!!

Very disappointed reading all of these comments about the Victory dry dock. We have sailed 7 times on Carnival and we specifically selected the Victory knowing she would have a dry dock in March and we will sail in June. For me, I have not been on a 2.0 ship, but I still want to experience what 2.0 has to offer.

All-in-all, it won't stop me from having fun, just overall disappointed. :-\

I have no idea if this person knows what she's talking about, but on the carnival site forums this was posted yesterday:

Hoping for a new bathroom...I'll be totally fine if that's the only change.

I saw this on travel.forumsee.com - I wonder if this is actually true:

Repositionings in 2015 and the debut of Fun Ship 3.0

Carnival Cruise Lines - boards

Carnival Fantasy will reposition to Miami and the Victory will be coming to Charleston! Victory will be in dry dock on 3/21/15 and will get to Charleston on 4/04/15. There will be a media event on April 5 followed by a 2 night media cruise to nowhere. Carnival Victory and Carnival Fantasy will swap itineraries beginning on April 4 and April 7. Carnival Victory will take over the cruises currently scheduled beginning April 7. The April 2 Carnival Fantasy cruise will be cancelled and the ship will reposition to Miami without passengers and resume the scheduled 5 day cruise on April 4. Customers already booked on any sailing beginning April 2 and April 4 will automatically be rolled over to the new ships. This is a move to increase capacity and variety in Charleston.

We are booked on the Victory sailing from Miami on June 18.

We are booked on the Victory out of Miami on May 11. Carnival is still showing the Fantasy in Charleston and Victory in Miami for May, there's currently no such thing as 3.0 and the ships are too different in size and room types (balconies) to make a switch and have it remotely even out. I would only believe this if I heard it directly from Carnival.

Well I entered the check in info last night and we are still showing original ports (they have not flippped them as email alerted..) I did not print them out since Carnival is likely working on this now...but I will be looking closely at check in time as it is indicated now as 11-12 we do have FTTF and if that stays about the same I will be really happy. I did call Hampton Inn Blue lagoon as this is our pre stay hotel and they said we had to check with them the day of check out to see if we could get a late checkout if needed...that is not re assuring to me...but what can I do..

so countdown is now about 18 days and things are coming together with packing etc... just wish I had a bit more closure on the boarding time...I really don't care if we leave at 7 as long as we can get on the ship and just start the vacation...

I spoke to my PVP, he always has given me the right info so far...he said there are a few ships that nobody where he works knows where they will be scheduled to be and he said between now and another week or so it should be announced. He said there is no such thing as 3.0 upgrades, I believe that person who wrote that accidentally typed the wrong number, he/she meant 2.0? He said for the Victory they will add the alchemy bar, skybox sports bar, gym will be redone a bit, all the bathrooms will be renovated (to me this is huge and a top thing I like to see) and I believe a few changed to the crew area, most likely the usual wear and tear stuff like carpeting and such. He said he believes the Victory may be out of Pt. Canaveral, again, he stressed nobody really knows but that is his guess.
