Ksimpson76 Posted February 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2015 So this will be my 4th cruise overall, first on Oasis, but I always hear about interesting items people bring with them on cruises to help out. Do you bring anything that really helps out on the cruise that maybe no one else might think of???
Paddy41 Posted February 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2015 I always take a couple of clothespins in case the curtains don't stay closed properly. I also take a few different sizes of bungee cords in case of rough weather. They can be used to keep the cupboard doors from opening, closing, opening, closing. :) Not sure if it's the same on all ships but I have taken magnets and used them to post schedules, notes, reminders onto the cabin walls which are magnetic. nomoreknothead Posted February 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Magnetic Clips - like the ones you put on your fridge to clip papers with! Your cabin walls are all metal. They are great for keeping the compass up out of the way and easy to find. I started bringing 4 or 5 to keep the cabin nice and tidy from all the papers! DCT61 Posted February 13, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 13, 2015 DO NOT bring a crock pot. We saw one on the "naughty table" in the terminal at the end of our ALLURE cruise. The mind reels.
05mak05 Posted February 13, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 13, 2015 When we cruise with family and the younger grandchildren, I take blinking LED Ice Cubes that I order on eBay. We've done 2 Christmas cruises, and I packed red and green "ice cubes." (Of course, I sanitized before using.) When we were seated for dinner, I dropped cubes in everyone's water glass and also put the little votive candles in Christmas colors at each plate. Lots of people came over to our table to ask where we got them. Fun!
LuCruise Posted February 13, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Great thread! In general, I always take ear plugs on vacation as you never know how noisy it will be at night.
fenton04 Posted February 13, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 13, 2015 A small light weight monocular. Not extremely necessary but was indispensable on our Alaska cruise!

Beth_55 Posted February 13, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 13, 2015 I take a few battery operated tea lights for the bathroom. Hate turning on the light when I get up during the night. And there are no plug ins for a regular nightlight.

luvscruising2007 Posted February 13, 2015 #19 Share Posted February 13, 2015 My favorite and most useful item is a collapseable hamper. It fits nicely in the closet and keeps the dirty/used clothing out of the way.
tserface Posted February 13, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 13, 2015 +1 for this idea. We hang our Compass and tickets for events, etc. so we don't miss them on the way out of the room. So easy to pack. We always bring one or two of these as well: http://www.amazon.com/Nyl-Holdings-70043x-Alarm-Clock/dp/B005UQICMW These are especially useful if you have an inside room. The numbers are big enough to read (for us) without glasses and it's easy to find the button to light them up to see. They are super light and run for a really long time on one battery. It's nice to not have to wake up all the way to find out the time. Tom Magnetic Clips - like the ones you put on your fridge to clip papers with! Your cabin walls are all metal. They are great for keeping the compass up out of the way and easy to find. I started bringing 4 or 5 to keep the cabin nice and tidy from all the papers! tserface Posted February 13, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 13, 2015 These are also cheap and handy. You can figure out if all the loot you bought while on vacation really fits into the suitcases or not by easily weighing them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EZG9X4?gclid=CJGxjuSC4MMCFYVrfgodd7cAFA Tom
cruzingduo Posted February 13, 2015 #22 Share Posted February 13, 2015 We always bring one or two bottles of Soft Soap for our bathroom. Much easier to use to wash hands than picking up a bar of soap. I also bring individual hand wipes which I carry with me. Good for using after reading menus, on casino buttons etc. Baby powder to get sand off your feet on the beach. I use a wipe off board that is magnetic. to write things like times of events, phone numbers, cabin numbers of friends. You can find one at Dollar stores. Grandma Dazzles Posted February 13, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 13, 2015 Everyone has mentioned many of the things I bring! To add to the list! Two 8 x 10 sheets of corrugated cardboard - great to put pictures between to put in the luggage to take home; saves "dents" "creases" from anything you might put near them. lawgirl Posted February 13, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 13, 2015 I bring a tiny speaker to listen to music...better than listening off of ipad, iPhone http://www.amazon.com/iHome-Portable-Speaker-Purple-Translucent/dp/B00B2IRCLE/ref=pd_sim_e_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=16DSPE0CPYEDF337CQ0E Extra dry cleaning hangers (we leave after cruise) Big insulated mug with lid (to use for soda or tea at pool) Own beach towels (easy to find our deck chairs) Post its ( to leave notes for room attendant) Business cards (to give to new friends so we can keep in touch) Now...if you REALLY want to pack every possible thing, go to Calgon's Ultimate packing list ..there is one for warm weather and one for cold.
