Rare manders175 Posted February 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2015 So I was talking to a few friends who have cruised before (this is my first cruise). We are planning on doing the Dolphin Swim in Cozumel and they said they were told if you have other sunscreen on besides the biodegradeable kind on they will make you shower before hand? Is this true? and if so, do they sell this is stores? Thanks!
Dan-P Posted February 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2015 A lot of the chemicals in standard sunscreens are pretty hard on the reef system. We are going to be in the Western Caribbean in a bit over a week and purchased some biodegradable sunscreen on Amazon. I have not used it yet, so can't offer any input aside from the fact it had really good reviews. Locally, I was not able to find any in stores - of course it is the middle of winter here too! I suspect you could find it in the various ports of call where they suggest/require it. With that said, I am not sure how they would have any idea what sunscreen you have on - if you had already applied it before showing up for your excursion. Dan. Rare orville99 Posted February 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2015 The last time we were in Cozumel, we bought a 4oz bottle of Australian Gold biodegradable sunscreen at Cinco Soles (sp?) for about $
louieond Posted February 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2015 we had to get some a few years ago when going to Xel-Ha park in Mexico. I got mine on a well known auction site! Get it before you go, if I remember correctly it was quite pricey if you bought it at the park.
reallyitsmema Posted February 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2015 Check out your local Whole Foods store or Natural Foods store as they sometimes have biodegradable sunscreen there too.
fenton04 Posted February 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2015 We got ours at target of all places. Got it online. Not much on the shelves this time of the year.

wyn_wyn1 Posted February 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2015 You can buy it online and I also found some in Target a while back. You should use the biodegradable sunscreen to protect the reef system don't listen to folks who don't give a hoot and use the regular stuff. SAVE THE PLANET!
