Best time to go to the South Pacific

You can google to bring up historical weather records, but the "wet season" is November through March

But, you just never know. We were there Dec. 2013 and no rain at all but the day before we left. Then, it rained pretty much every day for at least a week.

Most ships go there in the wet season due to their world wide travel schedule. The Gauguin and the Aranui stay there year round. If you consider them, go in June, July, August for the highest likelihood of calm seas, less humidity and sunny weather. The very southern islands may even experience cool winds blowing up from Antarctica.

We went to New Caledonia and Fiji over Christmas. The first day at sea was very windy, and the last day at sea returning to Sydney was also cool and windy. We had some tropical showers (short but heavy) in the afternoon at Port Denerau, our Dravuni port stop was cancelled due to high winds making the tenders unviable, and we had some morning showers at Lifou (snorkelling in the rain feels weird!). Other than that the weather was gorgeous, very warm and quite humid in the ports.

We're off to New Caledonia again next month so it will be interesting to see if we get similar good weather.
