Well it's not the but close. We will be leaving tomorrow from PHX to start the same cruise.

We found that if we booked the air our self's we would pay the same amount for the whole trip in Bus. as Regent was was charging for just the upgrade, plus we got a good credit for the non use of Regent air. We are on United, PHX-IAH-LIM, then EZE-IAH-PHX.

Total fare $2800pp. Hope this helps. Check out a site itasoftware.com to look at routes and pricing

Normally they will try to get you on directs but depends on the dates and space. I agree with Captjohn a lot of times it is cheaper to take the air credit and book them yourself. I book a lot for my clients and 90% of the time it is cheaper and you can guarantee a schedule

what happens if your flight gets in really early and the ship doesn't leave until 6pm.

It depends upon where you are in the world. Regent generally makes a tour available (no cost - low cost) to passengers that have Regent Air (also available to others at twice the price) and then take them to the airport. In Rio a small conference room in a hotel where luggage could be safely left was set up. There were chairs to sit in and water. We went out on our own and returned to our hotel in time to get the bus to the airport. In Rio, flights weren't until close to midnight -- 6 p.m. isn't really that late so I would guess that they would offer a tour and you will arrive at the airport 3:00 p.m.

Past air arrangements have little to no bearing on current availability, which is contingent on what the cruiseline has negotiated/contracted for.

Also, you may want to note that "direct" does NOT mean the same as "non-stop". All non-stop flights are "direct", but not all "direct" flights are non-stop.

"Direct" means that there is no change in flight number between origin and destination. However, there may be stops and there may also be equipment changes. So beware when someone says "direct". As an extreme example, Southwest has a "direct" flight from Baltimore to Oakland that makes five stops along the way....but it's "direct". A large number of international trans-Atlantic flights have domestic segments past the gateway that retain the original flight number. In these cases, you will stop at an east coast gateway (such as JFK, IAD, ATL) and usually change to a smaller aircraft for the domestic part of the trip. Non-stop? Nope, but it is "direct" since there is no flight number change. You also find this with TPAC DL flights that route through their Narita hub.
