sailingwithfriends Posted March 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2015 I would like to decorate our cabin door for our next cruise on Radiance of the Seas. Does anyone know if the door is magnetic? If not, any ideas of how to attach decorations without harming door?

ccotting Posted March 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2015 You want to put your decorations up higher on the door. If you watch the corporate decorations that folks buy through gifts and gear, you will see those are all placed high on the door. Doors around the handles, above, below and around, are washed periodically to minimize transfer of germs. You will especially notice this if there is an outbreak of Norovirus on your ship. We had a small outbreak on one trip and the railing and door wash schedule upped quite a bit.
GUT2407 Posted March 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2015 The doors are metal, but sometimes fancy magnets get moved or removed. An alternative is something like Painters Tape that can be removed without marking the surface.
sailingwithfriends Posted March 7, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted March 7, 2015 Thank you for the tip on placing things away from the doorknob and up high. I would not have known that. I want something on our door to make it easy to find.
Briecait Posted March 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2015 This must be an American doing as I have sailed on other cruise lines and only Rcl I see this done. Not for me I have better things to do on a ship than decorate a door.

See maybe a dozen each cruise out of Australia, never had a problem finding my room, they have a little thing called a number, a couple of times went starboard when I should have gone port or headed aft when should have headed forward or vice a versa even got off on wrong deck once, but can't see how decorations would have fixad any of those any quicker than realising numbers are odd not even going the wrong way or start with the wrong number, but hey whatever floats your boat. Kwigybo Posted March 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2015 It always seemed to be a nice thing on the Oasis over Christmas...such as a birthday or Barbie flair.
Coralc Posted March 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2015 It is a nice thing, and if you want to decorate, go ahead. When we sailed Radiance from Sydney to Honolulu, we had a few kangaroos and boomerang magnets and a couple of hula girls on our door. :D:):D Since then, we have a had a flat magnetic tree and flat wreath magnet for Christmas. It is fun, we like to put something on the door.
