jagmanss1 Posted August 31, 2015 #876 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Excellent sailing on grandeur in feb and was about to ask drinks prices Never cruised before but personally don't see the point in a drinks package as for half the cruise your off the boat anyway?! Not true, Unless you pick a port intensive cruise.... You will see.... Sure hope you don't plan on having more than 3 cocktails per day and even 3 cheap low end beers, Because that = drink package... We can agree to disagree, I'd say a fair number of people do and a good reason to get the drink package..... This next cruise will be my first time getting it as I was a huge opponent not to, But the pricing per drink speaks for itself.... Simple math, No over drinking needed, No keeping track needed.... jd07 Posted August 31, 2015 #880 Share Posted August 31, 2015 And on humid hot cruises that's easily achievable if you also like to have a few at the club into the early morning :) Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

marci22 Posted August 31, 2015 #882 Share Posted August 31, 2015 I'd say a fair number of people drink less alcohol than that. I agree. I think 3 cocktails per day is a lot for the average person. If you happen to be a drinker, I'm sure that 3 drinks per day seems like nothing.
jules71 Posted August 31, 2015 #883 Share Posted August 31, 2015 More information for those interested. I cruised on the Grandeur from 8/14-8/21. Drinks were actually cheaper than I had thought they would be. My goto drink, Sapphire and Tonic was 8.00. Kahlua Sombrero, 7.00. Beers were 5.50 and 6.00. Frozen drinks were 10.00. There were some specialty drinks which were 12.00. Hope this helps people in their planning! Did you happen to notice if they had any beer specials at the pool during the day? They had really good specials on the Enchantment last February. I think it was 5 beers for $20.
scootersdad Posted August 31, 2015 #884 Share Posted August 31, 2015 The plan is to follow the lead of Celebrity and include the drinks package as part of a sale with the cabin. The over inflated cabin prices may look better if you include an inflated drinks package. That's it. Just cancelled another RCL cruise. Just lost me to all inclusive resorts
Rare Lionesss Posted August 31, 2015 #885 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Sorry but Of course you came nowhere near what the drink package cost as you drank cheap champagne and only a rare Captain and coke, rarely drink during the day and never had a drink at the pool..... I'm thinking you should have done research into cheap drinking..... Then you would have known the drink package wasn't for you..... Believe it or not I did do my research after 6 RCI cruises. But my original intent was to try new drinks and if I did not like them to try another and throw out the first one. I stuck with my original favorites, so, I found out on the cruise the older you get the more fixated I got. So, It is what it is, and next year, I will not need the package with being Diamond and being in a suite. Later
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted August 31, 2015 #886 Share Posted August 31, 2015 On my last cruise, DH and I lost money on the drink packages. Some days we drank maybe 1 glass of wine at dinner due to being in port. The advantage for us was having it paid in advance and not having a care in the world on what it costs. We drank what we wanted when we wanted even if we way overpaid up front. However, I won't buy another drink package in the future. I realize we just aren't that big of drinkers. I did get to try a few cocktails that I normally would not have had such as a chocolate martini and a cosmopolitan. Those are classy drinks compared to my Jack & Coke's. :D
Cinerama Posted August 31, 2015 #887 Share Posted August 31, 2015 The Ultimate Drink Package says on the RCI web site: Our entire stock of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is yours to choose from. Enjoy virtually unlimited combinations on everything from cocktails with top-shelf spirits to premium teas and every beverage in between. So, you can get any drink no matter what the cost? No, that's why they put the wiggle word "virtually" in the description. The Ultimate package has the same alcohol limits as the Premium package, cocktails and glasses of wine covered up to $12 before gratuity.

Enjoy virtually unlimited combinations on everything from cocktails with top-shelf spirits to premium teas and every beverage in between. So, you can get any drink no matter what the cost? Apparently, there are a handful of really expensive liquors that are not included (REALLY old scotch, cognac, etc. as well as some oversized beer cans.) Having had a drink package in the past - we drink top shelf liquors in our cocktails and didn't encounter ANYTHING that wasn't covered by the Ultimate package. Coffees, fresh squeezed juices, bottled sparkling water, martinis, frozen drinks and anything else we could think of were included. Nah man... be real... you were gone long before that and this is an excuse to sound enraged. Just be honest and enjoy your vacation however you'd like. Rare conandrob240 Posted September 2, 2015 #891 Share Posted September 2, 2015 On Anthem, can anyone comment on how many speciality martinis/drinks we'll find are above $12? And if above, do I just pay the difference?

Correct, Inbev is the parent but I still think it's marketed as a Belgian beer. Kinda like Fosters can be brewed in Canada but they still call it Australian. BTW, Wikipedia says AB imports and distributes. No mention of brewing it in the US.
