Does the "Drink of the Day" still exist?

I was reading some recent Cruise Compass's from various RCI ships on this board,... and I noticed they no longer say anything about a "Drink of the Day" special at all,.....

With the recent drink price change did they quit offering these as well?

Anyone who's cruised the past few weeks, did you notice?

I was hoping there was at least still this offer for a buck or two less,....

or that you could order it without the suvaneer glass,......to save a buck,....

but I fear this too is now a thing of the past?

all I see on the compass's at all is the occasional Casino late night Happy hour, 11pm-midnight with half priced house call brand drinks.

Anyone know more?

We got off Radiance last Saturday and for our cruise there was also a daily martini of the day, cost $10 and available only at the Champagne bar, in addition to the drink of the day, cost $9 and the glass was yours to keep.

Again not as recent, Nov2014 Priced at $7.75 a pop and were mentioned in the compass daily.

Pretty sure prices have gone up since then;)

Day 1 Tropical Lemonade (Lemonade - Smirnoff - Blue Curaçao)

Day 2 Paradise Punch (Bacardi Rum - Schnapps - Pineapple - Cranberry)

Day 3 Lush Mint Lemonade (Lemonade - Mojito mix - Smirnoff - Mint & Lemon)

Day 4 Pirates Punch (OJ - Spiced Rum - Grenadine - Brandy)

Day 5 Tradewinds Cooler (Bacardi Rum - Island Oasis - OJ - Sprite)

Day 6 Tropical Sunset (Smirnoff - Schnapps - Chambord Black - Cranberry - Pineapple)

Day 7 Caribbean Sunshine (Smirnoff - Triple Sec - OJ - Sprite)

Happy Days!!

Yes, they still exist and are as tasty as ever. If you have a drink package you can get the DoD in a regular glass instead of the souvenir glass. They are still listed in the Compass, but down at the bottom of the page.

I should have mentioned in my post above that since we were on a cruise from Australian the above prices included the gratuities so may appear higher than on, say a Caribbean cruise.

On Explorer's last 9 day cruise before dry dock, only one day had a drink of the day.

There was a 'special' on margaritas. Buy all five at $7.95 +tip and be entered into a draw for a chance to win $50

No happy hours.

On the Oasis a few weeks ago, the drink of the day is not printed in the Compass. They still offer a DOD, but you have to ask the bartender for it. Don't know how much it is, just overheard another passenger asking a bartender if they were available. I would imagine the price has increased.

Just this week I read a review with Compasses as I had the very same question. This person posted about a cruise from last week, and where the Drink of the Day usually was, is now a generic, " Enjoy the drink of the day and get 25% off the regular price." I will see if I can find that Compass again.

The way Daily Drink Special was posted it made it sound like each bar will have it's own DOD. Is that how other people read this?

Looks like some days will be that way. But on a few days where the DoD is listed, it still says something to the effect of each bar having their own DoD as well on those days. Very confusing.

 So from the answers so far,.....just as confusing as Bar menu's without prices,.......

Drink of the day now very's ship by ship, Day By Day, Bar by Bar, no consistency whatsoever,.......Whatever the Ships Bar Manager feels like that day I guess,.....

not really liking this,......I'm a Planner,.......I like to know what I'm getting into before I commit to stuff,....Not just wing it, and hope I like it, when I find out what the deal is after the fact.

Most cruisers plan their cruises for the ship or the itinerary

Never known anyone to plan a cruise around the drink of the day:eek:

It's not like these will be published when you book a cruise

Not worth sweating the small stuff:cool:

Agreed all ships will have different drinks of the day, pretty boring if it was the same everyday or the same on every ship.

Happy Days!

I'm Not planning my cruise based around the drink of the day,.......I pick my ship by price and departure port,......I already have 3 booked,......But I do like to plan a budget to spend once I've decided and made a deposit on a ship & cruise,.....and yes this includes how many drinks, photos, tips, and other up-charge items on-board, so I don't overspend on my vacation,.....I make a budget before each cruise and like to stick to it as close as possable, both onship and in ports. (give or take mabie 30 bucks, at most.)

I'm not a big Drinker, so no all-inclusive packages for me, but I do like to get a drink at the evening theater show, or comedy club, So I'd like to plan ahead a little is that a crime? Even if you're going to raise the prices, is it to much to ask for a menu with prices printed, or some consistancy from Day to Day, Ship to Ship, Instead of always guessing what RCI might feel like charging Day by Day depending on they're mood? (or stock price, or day to day per-capita spending on each ship. or whatever else dictates this guessing game?)

I also noticed on the current Freedom compasses that there are no happy hour specials. They were listed in the timing on compasses from a couple of months ago, but no longer. Whether this is because of Spring Break or part of the overall move by Royal to push people towards drink pacakages I am not sure.

By the way, what is Drink of the day 25% per-cent off,.....

Is that 25% off of the $10 this drink cost yesterday,

or 25% off the $15 you want for it today?,......

or "half priced happy hour" if we don't know what the "Full" price is to begin with?:p

Enchantment (just last week) had a drink of the day. I don't recall if it was listed in the compass, that there was a sign at a couple of bars. The drink was generally something fruity, nonblended, and it was in the $7–8 dollar range.

I remember the drink for the first day was a sparkling Mai Tai, in a plastic souvenir cup.

Enjoy

Yes, DH loves the drink of the day, and has always made time to get it on all sailings.

We have a collection of glass RCI tall glasses that we serve daquiris in on the holidays. (not cheap people) just gets us to think about next cruise.
