Mallefiscent Posted March 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2015 We want to spend a few days at Disney World before we head out on our cruise with Royal Caribbean. What is the best way to get to the ship from Orlando?
JohninDC Posted March 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Best way is in the back of a stretch limo with a stocked bar! :D Easiest and cheapest way is likely a one-way car rental to PC/Cocoa Beach; all of the major car rental agencies have offices there (Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc.) and will shuttle you to the port. If you prefer to let someone else do the driving contact executive VIP for private car service. Have a good cruise! :)
Mallefiscent Posted March 25, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the info. Do you know about how long the trip takes? Oh and good music does come from bagpipes. ;) Edited March 25, 2015 by Mallefiscent
JohninDC Posted March 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2015 From the airport (MCO) to port is about 50 minutes - depending upon traffic near WDW and what hotel you are at I would add at least 20 minutes to that.
goofygal531 Posted March 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2015 We have done all four options. Limo - most fun for the kids, priciest Bus - nice that Disney handles the luggage but this time we'd like to arrive early Rental Car - yes, it's the least expensive but a pain! DH dropped me & the kids off at the Port, he went to Budget to return the car only to find a huge line, then another line for the shuttle, in the end he grabbed a taxi - took 2 hrs total Private car- this is the least stressful option. So far, the best I found is Tiffany Towncar with a van for $145 one way.
phoenix_dream Posted March 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2015 We did a Hertz rental with a drop-off in Port Canaveral. It was a little bit unorganized, but it only took us about 20 minutes to get a shuttle to the pier - 5 minutes away.
Mallefiscent Posted March 26, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted March 26, 2015 Thank you for all the options everyone. A limo does sound like fun for the trip there. I think I'll do something a little more economical for the trip back to the airport though. ;)
peachpeeps Posted March 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 26, 2015 We reserved a limo for 6 of us for $175 from Bay Lake Towers to Port Canaveral [ DCL ] and a private SUV back to Orlando Airport for $130. We used Executive VIP Limousine and the service was great.
Mallefiscent Posted March 27, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted March 27, 2015 Would you say it is worth it? Is the limo pretty comfortable for that long of a trip?

beachclubgirl Posted March 28, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We stayed for a few days at Disney before our last cruise too. I ended up renting a car through Budget. They have a desk at the Doubletree Hotel near Downtown Disney. It's about a ten minute walk from where the Disney bus drops you off in Downtown Disney to the hotel. Mallefiscent Posted March 30, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Thank you for all of the advice. My friend has never been in a limo, so I think a surprise limo trip is in order. :D
