Caribbean Princess

Thank you, Shredie, that was probably was the case. We just didn't notice. I just noticed the smoke more this cruise, but I've gotten older, too. :) For our first cruise we were among the rows of poker machine players who had active ashtrays. Our slots this time were the ones with the little devils with the furnace bonus rounds. But, we've come down from the 25 cent ones to the penny ones. :D There were no major problems for us overall. We just adjusted our location.

We enjoyed our cruise and the smoke didn't keep us out of the casino. My favorite place was in Crooners and enjoying the entertainment of Bert Stratton.

We sailed on the CB twice in the past year (including b2b cruises at the end of December/first of January). We had a good time on all three cruises. I don't like the layout as much as I do the newer ships (Ruby, Emerald, and Crown). But if the CB were going where I wanted to go at a good price, I'd book another cruise on it.

WOW is Bert Still on Caribbean Princess? We saw him last time and the hallway was standing room only. He is one of a kind. I hope he's still there in 10 days!

Yep, Bert's still there and he's still drawing a standing room only crowd. I enjoyed his show two of the evenings on our 5-day.

Thanks for the help with that, you confirmed my thoughts. I've now got us booked down on Caribe mid ship, very happy, although a little extra. Princess should be happy too, our original cabin went online for sale at $400 above what we paid 12 months ago, of course it went quick.

I have sailed 5 times on CB.....my next cruise was almost on her again.....due to the itinerary we were seriously considering...

Yes, I have sailed on Royal and Ruby and it is clear those are newer ships, but

CB is still a wonderful ship!

It is but could be so much better if they would just do some needed repairs wile at sea before dry dock, whenever that is.

I'm glad that you enjoyed Bert. He will be leaving the ship on April 18 for a break and then going on the Star for the Summer. I'd heard about him for years and finally caught up with him last Sept. Yes, I'm "Bertified". LOL. He is a very serious musician behind his shows. In fact, our choir just sang one of the church anthems he co-wrote.

As for the ships, we've been on Princess cruises since the Sun Princess in 1998, up to the Royal in 2013. We were on the Caribbean Princess, Emerald and Ruby Princess twice. I liked them all; the Royal Princess had the same basic layout but on a much larger scale. We've only been on 3 other lines, once, but always go back to Princess. And, yes, I would gladly sail on the Caribbean Princess again. It was a special cruise for us in 2004 and we continue to have good friends from it, and this last time we met Bert. The ship is very "comfortable".

Happy cruising!! Lynne

golfb4cruzing,

I'm sorry. However there are other venues on line where you can find him and say hello. ;) He likes to hear from his fans. I watched the sail away again today. Many of us who have been on the CB feel as if she's OUR ship. :)

I hope you enjoy your cruise. Lots of laughs, good food.. happy times. :)

Cruised on the Caribbean Princess in August last year (2014) for the Western Caribbean. Honestly my girlfriend and I found it to be a fantastic ship (my only other Princess exposure was the Star in 2012 in Alaska) and it was just practically a mirror image. I would have put it as a great ship (Sailed on the Norweigan Dawn in 2013 and it was in worse shape than the CB).

Nothing was really notable for decline or showing age, stayed on Baja Deck balcony without any issues, the whole staff was great, the food, etc, nothing to complain about.

Bert was definitely a hit, loved his shows!

Enjoy the Caribbean Princess!

CB holds a special place in our hearts. Been on her 4 times and again coming later this year. Funny thing, I remember leading up to one cruise the focus on the cc boards were the dirty ceiling fans outside the pizza grill - I'm sure some of you may remember this. It went on and on for perhaps a 100 of comments and some folks were aghast that it hadn't been addressed by the cleaning crew. The pre cruise months of buildup were finally over and we left on that cruise. We couldn't help but hit the pizza grill after boarding to witness first hand this horrendous site. As had been mentioned, there was in fact visible dirt at the top of the ceiling fan  You know what? - it didn't affect our cruise at all and we had a good chuckle whenever we walked by it. Princess does a fabulous job and we have never been disappointed with any of their ships condition. Hey, there's always something you could nit pik about but ships (and any public venues for that matter) are always in need of some sort of maintenance and cleaning. Go with the flow I say and enjoy that cruise! :)
