travelinteach Posted March 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2015 She is going with a group of friends who are all 21. Can she still go to the bars with them but just not drink or will she not be allowed in??
Cruising Golfer Posted March 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2015 No one is going to check I.D. unless she is drinking...
jsglow Posted March 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Are you 100% sure she will even be allowed to travel? My understanding is that anyone under 21 MUST be with an assigned guardian (doesn't have to be a parent) who is at least 25 years old. The exception is a married couple. (They could both be 20 and on their honeymoon for example.) I'd check the fine print ASAP.

My brother in law and his girlfriend couldnt be booked together on our last cruise because he was 21 and she was 19. She had to be booked in a cabin with my 30 yo SIL. bakersdozen12 Posted March 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2015 I agree, you definitely need to check because I'm pretty sure she won't be able to sail at all. I say this because I recall a girl complaining that she couldn't cruise by herself because she wasn't 21 and she was pretty peeved because she "worked hard for her money." chengkp75 Posted March 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2015 All passengers in a cabin must be 21, or one passenger in the cabin must be 25.

And I know you were simply being brief for purposes of a quick response but is allowed for kids traveling with their parents to have a separate cabin from mom and dad without an adult directly assigned to the room. My recollection is that younger children had to be within 3 doors down while older kids could be further away. Obviously that's not what's being discussed here in this thread. ragen Posted March 30, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) Almost all bars on the ship will let her in,......except the "Dance Club" on-board will check ID's and be 21 and over from about 9pm-3am strictly enforced,.....all other bars and dance club hours and comedy clubs, she's good to go, virgin drinks only. (based on my experiences, on Sensation,Fascination, & Ecstacy) Edited March 30, 2015 by ragen

Yes.. if you are booked on the cruise they will let you put your teens in their own cabin. The idea behind the age thing is to prevent a group of College spring breakers from going a drinking cruise. They just can't book a cruise by themselves.
travelinteach Posted March 30, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted March 30, 2015 ID's as in a drivers license???
chengkp75 Posted March 30, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) We are going as well... Then there is no problem with her getting onboard, and no problem with being in the bars, but not drinking. Her S&S card will be flagged to not allow alcohol purchases. There is the one venue where she can't go late at night, as another poster stated. No, DL not required onboard, but minor S&S cards are coded differently to prevent purchases. jsglow Posted March 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) We are going as well... Well then. At least we all had a lively discussion and hopefully shared some info that will be valuable to others too! Have a great cruise. No, DL not required onboard, but minor S&S cards are coded differently to prevent purchases. This may depend on the ship. When we took our (then 20 and 18 year old) children on the Valor, the kids were asked to produce ID (driver's license) in both the dance club and the casino. The other kids they met on board and hung out with were also asked to produce ID.

carrieluvsgreg Posted March 30, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Like others have said- she will need someone 25 in her cabin. If she were traveling with you, she could be within a few rooms of yours. I think the only exclusion would be if she were married.
carrieluvsgreg Posted March 30, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 30, 2015 As others have said- certain dance clubs require ID to get in. But the age is 18, not 21.
SadieN Posted March 30, 2015 #20 Share Posted March 30, 2015 The only things she can't do is drink and use the Serenity Deck (must be 21 for that). Only seen people being checked at the late night disco.
