First time sailing on NCL - we are heading on the Escape.

Family LOVES ice cream.

Understandably, we can not tell for sure anything accurate about the Escape at this time.

Does NCL have self service ice cream machines like those on Carnival and Royal?

where are they typically located on NCL ships and what hours? (Carnival in the lido, 24/7; Royal by the pools and closed at night)

this is a sticking point for some pax i am traveling with!

Thank you!

As you stated, no one can tell you definitely about the Escape, but the ships typically have soft serve self serve machines in the buffet area. They are open when the buffet is open for lunch and dinner (usually until about 10 PM in the evening). They don't seem to be open during breakfast, but I suppose they could be sometimes. They also have hard scoops with various flavors that change throughout the cruise, but that is not self serve. I have never been on a NCL ship that did not have soft serve self serve machines. It has been consistently delicious as well.

Ice cream but not soft serve is also on the main dining room menus.

On some ships the soft serve has been at both ends of the buffet and on others it's been outdoors on the pool deck. Same with the hadd scooped ice cream. There is usually an outdoor lunch buffet area and quite often the hand scooped ice cream is there. Usually see Vanilla, Chocolate and Butter Pecan....love that Butter Pecan! So nice to lay out on that deck and listen to the steel drum band while you try to finish the ice cream before it melts! It's snowing at my house today.....can't wait to get on the Getaway in a few weeks:D

We are Ice Cream Lovers as well.

Just off the Getaway. Ice cream available during lunch and dinner. Closed down around 9:30-10:00pm.

The Getaway had 4 soft serve machines located on the corners of the buffet. Flavor choices were vanilla, chocolate, and twist.

Additionally, they have the hard hand scoped ice cream, which we preferred over the soft serve. Generally 8 flavors that rotated somewhat. Always had vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream and yogurt option, sugarfree option, and sherbet. Flavors that rotated: strawberry ice cream, butter pecan ice cream, vanilla yogurt, chocolate yogurt, sugar free vanilla, orange sherbet, lime sherbet, pineapple sherbet, lemon sherbet, kiwi sherbet. We were hoping for but never saw mint chocolate chip or cookies and cream. There were usually toppings available like sprinkles, sugar cone sprinkles(our favorite), and chocolate syrup.
