The wine tasting was a great success. Thanks to Kazu for hosting and to everyone for coming and bringing your wine along to share. Some extremely tasty samples were brought forth and, I believe a good time was had by all. The winner of the best wine will be announced after we've let the winner know -if you know what I mean[emoji2].

Now to get ready for formal night and the Black and White Gala. DH and I have a lovely, private, little table for two in the MDR which we now have booked for the rest of the cruise. [emoji7]

BTW we still didn't get anywhere with Dancing With The Stars but it is fun and a great workout!! A good number of the Roll Call came to watch for which we were very grateful.

The fun continues.

Sorry to hear that you have a cold -- especially with everything you have had to deal with on this cruise -- cabin wise.

what a nice post KK - thank you :)

just cleaning up from the wine tasting.

I will post pics as I have to say everyone cheered when 3of4 and 4of4 entered our room. They were just adorable, probably dressed better than many will be tonight. 1of4's DS in a bow tie - absolutely charming and her DD in an exquisite white dress with a gorgeous black bow - perfect for Black and white ball night.

how many people can you squeeze into a Neptune Suite? you'd be surprised. No aft cabin would do as it is too hot (and I am NOT complaining) to be on a verandah.

I will post pics tomorrow with names not revealed to protect the innocent, but you may recognize a few.\

And YAY to Vict0riann for getting her pic on tapatalk. We'll do it again together my friend and you will be flying.

Need to clean up the cabin, move chairs back on to the deck and get ready for dinner. Hope kazu can clean up nice (NOT).

thanks to everyone for following along and if I get boring, just let me know.

Oh yum! Thx for the food porn:D. Where did you have/see them?

along with that, we had shrimp, sushi, cheese & some other thing that I can't remember the name of.

I put the pics on my camera so I will download tomorrow and post the full food porn.

yummy, yummy, yummy.

now to make the decision what to wear tonight.

DH wants the black and white - I want the white sequined (delicately).\

dam - this would be the cruise I decided not to bring my favourite formal outfit and the great one is blue. dam, dam, dam.

Life is good - we're cruising and had fun with a great roll call.

Ports start tomorrow big time. Three private tours booked for the next three ports and I haven't even reported on Cartagena yet. What a slacker that kazu is - someone should fire her.

I will try to get Cartagena done tomorrow and Costa Rica and the wine tasting.

What fun we had.

and now on for more. Cheers :)

Jeff Warren is from Toronto and has been on many HAL ships. Fantastic entertainer, unbelievable knowledge of songs and their origin as well as music history.

thanks Louis. No wonder he's good - he's Canadian. ;)

he seems to be able to do anything. I made a request last night that only a few fine musicians can do well and he did it. YAY. three thumbs up from kazu :)

we are very happy with him and getting more impressed each night.

Cruz Chic, this is just the remaining few on the largeplate at the official sail away wine tasting! A ton of snacks and lots of choices of wines to taste in Kazu's suite. Yum! Ice wines, chocolate wine, all wonderful. A good time was had by all.....

sounds like a great time

I've been talking to my DH about the Panama Canal and he looked up info on the internet. I almost had him ready to book for fall 2016 when he retires.

Hal is his favorite cruise line and he loves to golf. Have their been opportunities to golf on this cruise?

If you'd be interested the NA is doing the canal for the first time in April 2016.

Could someone find out if the Captain will be continuing on for Alaska, for those of us getting on those next cruises after this one? Thanks in advance if anyone can!! Love reading all this.....

Yes he is on till the end of June. He's really nice and has a great sense of humour.

Thank you for the info. DH is retiring in May 2016, so I was thinking of doing the transit from west to east when the ships leave Alaska in Sept./Oct.

Just curious how hot it is? And are there lots of bugs? I'm planning what to bring for next year. [emoji6]

I'm hoping no one will mind me answering. It is stupid not and muggy. I always forget about the oppressive heat. In terms of bugs, it's not bad.i hate bugs so I would notice. I think it's a good idea to bring repellent. My info comes from multiple sailings thru the canal.

Wow :D An upsell to a Neptune Suite AND dinner with the Captain? Good job :D

Thanks for the updates. Sounds like a fabulous cruise.

They often do these types of dinners on a longer cruise and neptune guests are surely at the top of the list. While not with the captain, I dined with the second officer (not sure that's the proper title) and about 13 others. While I appreciated the opportunity I'm not the type of person who enjoy these types of things as I feel uneasy. I'm sure other people feel differently. I was in a lowely ubstucted oceanview when I was invited. I was told that they do this on longer cruises by the officer.

Scrapnana

Thanks hugely for the photos!! Great job you do!! Loved the photos of the Captain dancing.

We've sailed HAL for a LOT of days and we have NEVER, EVER seen a Captain who acted like this! I am ASTOUNDED. This is just not what we have been experiencing on HAL.

He is what HAL needs a lot more of: a good sport who participates, obviously very sincerely and seriously. I would suggest that he be in line for the World Cruise once Captain Mercer is done with that one.

The combination of this Captain and Mark Pells as HD is outstanding! We seriously made a big mistake not booking this cruise!!
