fcleiser3 Posted April 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Any opinions on Sulemaniye Mosque versus Blue Mosque in Istanbul? Chris
Rare CruiseIreland Posted April 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Yes, we visited both on our stop last September. Sulemanye mosque was beautiful, not many visitors and very relaxed. It's almost as spectacular as the Blue Mosque. Interesting graveyard attached. Free and clean toilets in the grounds. It was a short walk to the Grand Bazaar and then on to Aya Sofia/Blue Mosque. Rare Hlitner Posted April 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2015 They are both great places to visit so you should go to both :). Hank
MeHeartCruising Posted April 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2015 (edited) Definitely worthy of a visit if time permits. But if I had to pick one, I would choose the Blue Mosque. But if time permits, do both. Edited April 10, 2015 by MeHeartCruising
roothy123 Posted April 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2015 There's also Rustem Pasa mosque near the Spice Market. It looks great, and is much less visited than the Blue Mosque. I hear it's a little hard to find, though!
joanna111 Posted April 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2015 We really preferred the Blue Mosque. It's in a more touristy section and very easy to get to on the tram. Suliman (sorry, can't spell) was in a less touristy area (which I prefer) but not as easy to get to as the Blue Mosque. Be aware that they close about 1/2 hour before each prayer time. 4774Papa Posted April 11, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2015 The Blue Mosque is history, that was our choice. We didn't care to go to another.
