grandpa cruiser Posted April 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2015 In the past, we gave always requested the "egg crate" toppers for the mattresses on most ships on Princess--we have never sailed on the Crown. Could anyone who has sailed recently give me information as to if the mattresses have been upgraded or are they the same? many thanks, Cheers! Coveguy4 Posted April 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2015 I was on the Crown in a balcony on deck 14 and the mattress was great. New pillowtop very plush. This was 2 months ago.
SadieN Posted April 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2015 My mattress on the Crown was fine. The comforter inside the duvet was the issue. It was bumpy after being washed. Looked like pebbles, a lump of 'feathers' in every square baffle. Wasn't put through a dryer with tennis balls like I do at home. Mom kicked hers apart. I was hoping the RS would have done something about it. At least I knew it was washed at some point.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted April 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2015 We were on the Crown in December and the mattress was good ... not fantastic but good. We were on the Emerald Deck if that makes any difference.
lovevacadays Posted April 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2015 It must be hit and miss on the Crown. I sailed in January with a friend and both our beds were really bad. One of the worst I have had. I hope you get a good mattress.

There is no way you will ever sail on a ship with all new mattress's unless its brand new. So it will be a crap shoot. Good luck.
shredie Posted April 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2015 I've been on the Crown twice this year, in two different cabins, and both times the bed was comfortable. Not so earlier on the Golden. You won't know until you get there, unfortunately.
chillzen Posted April 12, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2015 I was on the Crown 2 weeks ago and mine had lumps and bumps so I got a topper from the steward.
joeyancho Posted April 12, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2015 On the crown last month, mini suite, it was horrible. My back was killing me the last three days.
KruzPrincess Posted April 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2015 I just got off the Crown on Saturday. My friend and I each had side by side balcony cabins on Caribe. Both of us had terrible mattresses and suffered all week. We got toppers and it didn't really help. I have had good mattresses on my last 3 cruises and now back to a bad mattress on the Crown. :(
Saffir Posted April 19, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) ^ Same experience as KruzPrincess, but I was on the Mexican Rivera voyage the week after. I was in an oceanview stateroom and the mattress was AWFUL. I got an egg crate topper but it did not help much at all.
