SAC112750 Posted April 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2015 Is it possible to get a room for one person? How does the price run? Are there sets of rooms that connect?
cb at sea Posted April 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Cabins are priced based on DOUBLE occupancy...so a single pays the rate for the first 2 people, whether there are 1 or 2... Yes...most ships have connecting cabins. Look at the deck plans for whatever ship you're sailing...the connecting cabins are usually indicated by arrows, showing which room connects to which room! bakersdozen12 Posted April 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Actually, there are some cruise ships that offer cabins for solos. Here is an article on the subject. http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=
rkacruiser Posted April 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Once in awhile, one may find a cabin priced at 150% or 175% for solo occupancy. Some years ago, that seemed to be the "norm", at least in my experience. Now, 200% seems to be the going rate.
Tiggertastic Posted April 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Depends on the ship Ncl breakaway, getaway, epic all have single studios and you don't pay the price of more than one passenger It was cheaper for 3 of us yo have one each than 3 share a balcony cabin

first2travel Posted May 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2015 The only cruise line at this time that offers studio staterooms is NCL Epic and I believe Breakaway. I have been on the Epic and two members of my group book as such. The room was surprisingly spacious. What a great idea. More cruise lines should offer this alternative. Why spend double if you are traveling alone? Poor business practice. Happy travels!
ducklite Posted May 7, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2015 Some Crystal cruises waive the single supplement.

Daisyloo Posted May 9, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 9, 2015 Holland America's new ship coming out in 2016, the Koningsdam, will have singles cabins and also family cabins that will accommodate 5. It looks like the cruise lines are starting to realize that there is a market for non-traditional accommodations.

RCCL - Quantum, Anthem, Harmony, Radiance, Serenade and Brilliance P&O - Azura, Britannia and Ventura HAL - Koningsdam will have solo cabins when launched in 2016 TO OP -Always compare the cost of booking a standard cabin w/single supplement vs. booking a solo/studio cabin. I have found with RCCL that it's been cheaper to actually book a standard cabin w/single supplement that booking a solo/studio cabin.
