phychoice Posted April 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2015 We are first time cruisers to Alaska and are wondering if there will be many families on a summer Millennium cruise. Also, are there organized tournaments during the day, like ping-pong, sports, bingo, etc?
CruiserBruce Posted April 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2015 I would be asking this on the Celebrity board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=28 as the activities they have, for the vast majority, will be fleet wide, and only a small number specialized to Alaska. Budget Queen Posted April 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2015 We are first time cruisers to Alaska and are wondering if there will be many families on a summer Millennium cruise. Also, are there organized tournaments during the day, like ping-pong, sports, bingo, etc? there will be some families and kids on board. Bulk of passengers, however, will be middle aged and above. It's not the Caribbean, so fewer of those types of activities- if any. Bingo- will be going strong :) On the Celebrity board, place a post asking for the early visitors, to scan you a daily activity sheet from an Alaska sailing. Cassicruiser Posted April 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2015 We sailed on Millennium in January of last year, which is summer in the southern hemisphere, so all the teens (or kids in general) on board were either Australian or South American, and there were probably 15 teens in all. Between 3 families we had 7 of them, and they had an absolute ball with the other teens on board, as it was great for them to meet kids from Chile and Argentina. It was a very port intensive Asian cruise and the kids made their own fun in the evenings. That said, there really wasn't much planned for them at all as far as shipboard activities went, especially for the ones over 16. They went to the disco a lot, but there were only a handful over 18 so the others got booted out by midnight. They enjoyed the shows and just hung out with their new friends at the pool, so were fine, but I'm not sure how things would pan out on an Alaskan cruise.
