I am planning a private excursion in Aruba. I am curious on what time I should ask the tour to meet me. Is Ship time for Serenade the same as local time in Aruba?

thanks

You cannot predict if ship time will be the same as local time.

However, the ship arrival and departure times as listed in the pre-cruise itinerary are supposed to be local time.

In my experience, the private tour operators are well versed in the arrival times of the ships. If I tell them the ship is arriving at 9 AM based on the ship itinerary they are always waiting with no problem, even if there was a time difference. We always stay on ship time, and just make sure to let them know what time we need to be back.

The ONLY time that's important to you is SHIP'S time! No matter what...whatever the ships clocks say as you leave in the morning, is the time you set your watch (not you cell phone!) to.

So meet your tour based on SHIP'S time!!!

might want to rethink what you wrote..

In the context of being in port and off the ship, I was accurate.

Now, in terms of on board activities, you should always be on ship's time.

I agree!

I have, however, heard there is at least one cruise line that does not change to local time, which seems insane to me....

Then of course, there is something called UTC, which is universal time. It's mostly used by mariners, and there are some web sites that use that (for example, Marine Traffic). Converting from that to local time to my home time got very confusing until I found a great website that converts among all three easily.
