Happy hour drinks

Is there any happy hour at any of the Independence of the Seas bars?

I've not heard of any happy hour beyond the normal Diamond and Concierge lounge functions, which are for suite guests and higher level loyalty members.

I don't know about Independence of the Seas, but on our Serenade cruise, there were some "Happy Hour" specials advertised at times for places like the Crown & Castle Pub and Rita's Cantina. I didn't partake of them, so I don't know what kind of specials were involved.

There are occasional specials listed in the cruise compasses linked here http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=46095565#post46095565.

For exapmple

2 for 1 margaritas for an hour at Boleros and Schooner Bar, $5 WooWoos for an hour at the casino bar

Was on the Grandeur for New Years cruise, and they too had the 2 or 1 margarita special one night.

Fast forward to last week, and gone was the 2 for 1 special.. instead it was $5.99 margarita specials...

was waiting and waiting for the 2 for 1.. sadly, the prices were way up for the drinks.. my drink and my dh drink was over $25 US... then add the exchange for Canadian dollar:eek: needless to say, we drank more on the islands than on the ship:cool:

On Bugsy's live report from Quantum, the Compass showed Happy Hours specials - 20% off drinks at certain bars between (I think) 3-5pm

That sounds like BOGOHO for drinks: raise the drink prices 50% and then give you 20% off and call it a sale.

No kidding. We scanned the compass daily to find the buy one get one offer- but it didn't come :(

Just the $5.99 deal- which I guess is a deal. But not one we purchased. We were quite shocked at the prices. Compared to just New Years. And no drink of the day glasses- I finally asked the last day and was told you had to pay extra. As I have stated- prices are way up- from cruise fare to drinks. Our 2 drinks came to about $30CAN- we ended up having only a couple a day.

Oh well, saved us money in the end :D we still had an ok cruise

Hey Chris, were leaving on the Quantum of the Seas on Friday. A few questions. Can we carry soda and water on? Drinks for the two of you came to 25.00? OMG, that is ridiculous. What were you drinking?

Yes, we each had a 12 pack of coke. In our luggage- in Baltimore.

I had a Black Russian and Jeff had either amaretto sour or frozen mojito, or piña colada. Etc. nothing toooo extravagant. But soon pricey- and with at least a $3 tip already added on- we gave no extra- sad really. Like I have said- prices up- service understandably lower now) even our Bermuda cruise is up $1000- but hey, I got a window now ;)

I'm checking out Carnivale and quite seeing what I'm seeing... So I have a fist full of $$$ and a bunch of vacation days per year- time will tell who gets it :)

Have a great cruise!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.

are we the only people who almost never drink alcohol during the day? at best he'll have a beer with Trivia. but it's too hot in the Caribbean to drink heavily. I have no desire to be dehydrated and headachy by drinking a lot.

the free drinks in the Lounge are enough for us, now that we can bring 2 bottles of wine on board and no more corkage fee for the dining room( and even then we really only drink at dinner on Formal nights)

Being Diamond+, I thought I would never do it but based on prices on Allure last week, this week I booked the new Norwegian Escape for Sept 2016. Got a mini suite, ultimate beverage package and OBC enough to pay the gratuities for the same price I paid for last week on the Allure for a Central Park View with no beverage package. It comes down to what is the best value for the money.

If you have the drink package how does this happy hour work? I assume not at all?

As long as the drinks are $12 or less, they are included with the Premium and Ultimate packages.

I'm on the same page as you. No alcohol during the day in the Caribbean for me as well. CL drinks are sufficient and 2 bottles of wine are plenty.
