waltd Posted April 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Does anyone know if there is a Thermal pool on the Grand Princess and how much are they charging? From the deck plans it looks like they only have steam and sauna.
Pam in CA Posted April 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2015 No changes that I'm aware of. Her next dry dock is probably going to be in 2016 and that'll be for routine maintenance. The Grand has the spa pool. Very few Princess ships have the Thermal Spa.
Kamloops50 Posted April 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2015 The Grand is going into dry dock on May 1,2015. The Crown is also going into dry dock at the same time. Just before there Alaska starts.
Rare ceilidh1 Posted April 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2015 I believe it's wet dock at Canada Place. No major changes are going to take place at that time (like refurbishments) just some touch ups and engineering repairs.
Kamloops50 Posted April 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2015 It will probably moved across Burrard Inlet or Esquimalt for wet docking. There isn't an suitable equipment or space to do a wet dock at Canada Place.
Colo Cruiser Posted April 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 30, 2015 This was discussed on another thread, apparently it was said that its staying at Canada Place. Maybe someone can chime in.

Pam in CA Posted April 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) The Grand has quite a few leaks in cabins, hallways, etc. so chances are they'll be repairing those. Don't need a dry dock. Here's a photo of a pail catching dripping water outside the wedding chapel. Edited April 30, 2015 by Pam in CA
waltd Posted April 30, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 30, 2015 Finally a real photo of the elusive leaks on the Grand. So it's not a myth. :)
snoodqueen Posted April 30, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 30, 2015 Yes, it has been discussed on another thread. The Grand will be at Canada Place for her wet dock.
Rare ceilidh1 Posted April 30, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 30, 2015 Finally a real photo of the elusive leaks on the Grand. So it's not a myth. :) Most definitely NOT a myth! We just got off the Grand and there were buckets everywhere, not to mention very strong mold smells! I had a great cruise, but wouldn't sail Grand again unless she had some work done to rectify this! yyjguy Posted April 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 30, 2015 Grand is going into Canada Place North and will remain there. This leaves the two main berths, West and East, clear for ship movements while she is tied up.
cruzisme Posted April 30, 2015 #15 Share Posted April 30, 2015 Agree re thebuckets and leaks Was on last October Surprised to see those buckets on deck 5 by the wine bar
yyjguy Posted April 30, 2015 #16 Share Posted April 30, 2015 The Grand is running about 2 hours late and as a result she will berth at Canada Place West. Westerdam will take Canada Place North.
pris993 Posted May 1, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Amazing... I went on the Grand to check her out, about 1.5 years ago. I totally missed the buckets and mold smell, even though I am very allergic to mold... I guess I am just lucky. We had a mini suite forward... no problem at all, I guess there must be problems in the back of the ship. Had the best service in the MDR.... would look forward to cruising on the Grand again, even as old as she is, I was on the first cruise out of Istanbul, in l998. Would guess the wetdock will help on the problems.
Kamloops50 Posted May 1, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I heard that they have had leak problems since Skywalker was removed. Sent from my SGH-I317M using Forums mobile app
LARGIN Posted May 1, 2015 #19 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Was on the Grand 2 years ago.. No leaks or weird smells except for a few passengers overloaded with perfume in the elevators :)

Rare ceilidh1 Posted May 1, 2015 #21 Share Posted May 1, 2015 A lot can happen in 1-2 years. It seems to be getting worse. :( I agree! We just got off her in April and had two rooms at the very aft of Baja deck (one suite, and balcony next door). We couldn't even use the balcony due to the mold smell (mom is highly allergic) so ended up all staying in the suite! Pretty much every deck had a bucket or two! senior lady Posted May 1, 2015 #22 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I just got off the Grand this morning in Vancouver. I did the 10 day coastal. I can honestly say that I have nothing to complain about. I was very concerned about all the negative comments. They were replacing carpet on the ship the whole trip. Only saw 1 bucket and no fans. There was no smell on Caribe deck. Our cabin was great. Service and food was awesome and so was the entertainment. I honestly thought it was in better shape then the Crown Mexican cruise I did last Feb. The Grand is going into a 10 day wet dock in North Vancouver and they are replacing the carpets, doing some work in Sabatini's and lots of work in the crew area. The Crown is going to Victoria for a 3wk dry dock and is getting a lot of work done.

retrembl Posted May 1, 2015 #24 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Does anyone know if there is a Thermal pool on the Grand Princess and how much are they charging? From what I have read there is NO Thermal Suite on the Grand
senior lady Posted May 1, 2015 #25 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Thanks for the positive update. We're heading up there in three weeks for our first Princess Cruise. Can't wait!! other than the cabin closets are smaller as is the bathroom. The internet was very slow or non-existent in the cabins but was fine down on the Plaza deck and most other venues. I wouldn't hesitate on going on her again:D
