Do we need bug repellant for Alaska in May?

If you're only visiting cruise ports and not going inland, you shouldn't have any problems with mosquitoes. I was in Alaska in May (early to mid-May, though), and there weren't any mosquitoes.

If bugs bother you it wouldn't hurt. Often my wife and I can be next to each other and she is covered with bugs and there is not one near me. It never hurts to be prepared.

Here in Anchorage right now. Definitely mosquitos. We leave for Denali in a few hours and its warm there too - up to 67 predicted for today. Glad we brought our deep woods off wipes.
