scmona Posted May 14, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Do they even have a bug situation in May?
Illyria Posted May 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2015 If you're only visiting cruise ports and not going inland, you shouldn't have any problems with mosquitoes. I was in Alaska in May (early to mid-May, though), and there weren't any mosquitoes.
zqvol Posted May 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2015 If bugs bother you it wouldn't hurt. Often my wife and I can be next to each other and she is covered with bugs and there is not one near me. It never hurts to be prepared.
solongshakespeare Posted May 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I'm in Anchorage. We've had a mild winter and the mosquitoes have been out for three weeks. So far they are the big and slow ones, but in a couple of weeks they should be picking up. A small bottle of bug spay wouldn't be the worst thing to have on hand. Ashland Posted May 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2015 We've never needed it for May ports in Alaska...but I always bring the "Off" brand individual packaged wipes...easy to take with you.
Rare Coral Posted May 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2015 I have never needed it on a cruise in May. I have needed it hiking in Seward though.
rslinky Posted May 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Here in Anchorage right now. Definitely mosquitos. We leave for Denali in a few hours and its warm there too - up to 67 predicted for today. Glad we brought our deep woods off wipes.
