teony20 Posted May 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Hi, I'm looking at an Oceania cruise in June 2016 on the Marina, and I'm trying to get a handle on what the extra charges are. I understand the cooking classes are extra, as well as any alcoholic beverages. I assume spa services are also extra. But what about using the spa - the exercise machines, the classes? What about the high tea they talk about? Any input is appreciated. Thank you.
Mura Posted May 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Afternoon Tea has no charge. Some exercise classes do but use of the machines do not. The classes that have a fee will be specified in the Daily Currents that you receive in your room the night before. Some cruises give free internet, most do not. I'm sure you know that the specialty restaurants (save La Reserve and Privee) have no charge. I'm trying to think of fee-based services but am coming up short ... someone else will chime in, I'm sure. In some cases it may depend on your category of cabin as to if there is a fee or a "benefit". For example, the spa deck (which we've never used ourselves) I believe is free to people in the suites. Not sure about the technicalities since we didn't take advantage of them! Mura Mura

hondorner Posted May 24, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I just checked the pricing - WOW - expensive! It can seem that way at first! Most of us look only at the bottom line. We create a spreadsheet and compare costs between cruise lines. List the basic fare, add in the costs for airfare, specialty restaurants, alcoholic drinks, excursions, sodas and bottled water, gratuities, and anything else we expect to spend. Add it all up then divide by the number of days in the cruise. You'll come up with a bottom line number that can be compare between any two cruises. Oceania usually ends up being pretty close to other, seemingly less expensive cruise lines, because things like airfare, specialty restaurants, sodas, juices and bottled water, gratuities (in most cases; depends on your travel agent) are included in the base fare. Oceania also generally has better food, more comfortable beds, better service and the benefits of smaller ships, all difficult to set a value.
