Why are people so happy about the big reversal??

When I started seeing that NCL was going to be offering an "enhanced" menu for $7.95, I assumed that it would have exciting, new items that might be worth the fee. Instead, they're offering the same sort of items which are free on Princess. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Exactly! And they removed items, and the few "enhanced" items are not appealing to some.

It is not as though NCL guessed at what are popular items...they have clear statistical evidence which items would be best left off the menu to push people into choosing the fee based items should they prefer RS.

I disagree. I eat on my balcony. So eating on my cabin balcony is the same as eating on my balcony at home, which I also do.

Then again, if you sleep at all on your cruise, you might as well stay home and sleep in your bedroom.

And if you eat at all at the the main dinning room, you might as well stay home and eat in your dinning room at home.

And if you read at all on a cruise, you might as well stay home and read.

If you swim at all on a cruise, you might as well stay home and swim in your own pool.

In fact, following your logic, there is no reason to go on a cruise at all. In fact, following your line of thinking, there is no reason to leave home at all.

Actually, eating in your cabin is one of the options. If I want to eat in a restaurant, I can do that at home, so why should I eat at one of the restaurants?

Bravo.

If the worry is about dishes being left in the hallway, then a small sign in the room or in the dailies asking people to leave them in their room for the room steward might work.

Such a simple solution, right? I agree!

Holy cow this whole ordeal got me dizzy!

Teens do behave oddly and can make it challenging. But I have seen similar waste at the buffet, by any age, with piles of food on plates, left on the table. Sometimes people make a plate that is more than they can truly eat, instead of taking a little, and going back for more, they pile it up and waste what they don't eat.

I was a teen librarian for several years, & challenging is a good word:D I could also see teen boys ordering room service every couple of hours & eating every bite.

On our first cruise they still had the midnight buffet. We were horrified by the stacks of plates all over the hall with largely uneaten food on them and continue to be amazed by some of the people at the buffet who seem to be in a food stacking competition.

Truthfully I have never seen so much discussion where people like to eat.

A lot of the discussion, in fairness, is being perpetuated by people who seem to be interested not in trying to actually have a discussion but instead to question why other people like what they like. You know, imagine a poster who posts nothing on cc for a couple of weeks except for multiple posts in this thread pretending to be curious why people care about eating in their cabin, but really just trying to imply that they shouldn't care about it. One could see how that might tend to keep the conversation going that would otherwise likely end of its own accord.

People like to eat things other than the few room service choices on their balconies. It's important to them. There's nothing more to see than that. If it doesn't appeal to you, we get it. And get it. And get it. And get it. And get it. Why one would continue to post in a thread about something they purportedly don't care about when there's so many other great topics in CC about stuff they likely do care about is an interesting question.

I wonder who this could be aimed at?

Also if it's about dishes in hallways then they should have eliminated room service dishes altogether.

That was the big falsehood of the policy to begin with. Room Service dishes were going to end up in the hallway anyway, but blaming the takeouts was a calculated smoke screen to deflect the outrage over the room service fees.

I am happy and I must say surprised they reversed their policy. I do wonder how in the brief time it was in place it was being followed by passengers or enforced by the crew.

On the Sun until 5/18, was completely ignored by passengers and crew.

They gave me a tray to use.

Taking food from the buffet was never really enforced, but then again, I don't think they every intended for it to be enforced.

It had just been put in place so you have no idea if they were planning on enforcing it, and there were reports of people that were stopped with food so this is not an accurate statement.
