Transatlantic From Harwick

Recommended Posts

We just signed up for the subject cruise on 3 Sept 15. Does anyone have any advise on how to get from the London airport to the cruise terminal other than the $100/person tran provided by Royal Caribbean?

Also, is anyone planning separate tours at the various stops.

Thanks. See you there!

Best to check with your roll call:

Realistically only way is by train - it would take between 2 1/2 to 3 hours, requires 3 changes and switching train terminal in London - I assume you are coming into London Heathrow ??

It will cost you around £50pp ($75) each way and could be a bit of hassle .... Other option would be to fly into London have couple of nights there sightseeing and then train out to Harwich on sail day .... If not I would suggest let RCI transfer you at $100 for peace of mind

We have used a transfer service that picks us up at Heathrow and takes us to our hotel and then returns a day or two(or three:D) later and takes us to Harwich. There are a number of such companies that are quite reliable. If you are traveling with another couple or couples, the price is reasonable and the trip much more comfortable.

This topic is discussed on the British Isles board from time to time - come over and see us (your thread may get moved, in any case) :)

Harwich is awkward from any of the main London airports and if this is 'day of', rather than taking advantage of a few days in London, it is one of the few occasions when cruiseline transfers are very much worth considering.

We did arrive into LHR on morning of cruise and the best option was the RCI transfers...we were easily at Harwich by noon.

We opted to spend a week post cruise in London and used the train to get to Liverpool Street Station.

  • 2 months later...

In mid-July, we used Blackberry Cars from Heathrow to Harwich (150 pounds) which was about 2 hours and on return two weeks later Harwich to central London (120 pounds). The driver met is directly after the immigration area in Heathrow. On the way back they were inside the port right after the luggage collection area. You can pay be credit card or Paypal on their website, or use cash on day of travel. It was all pretty easy.

A bunch of us (45 people) from our roll call stayed at the City Inn (near Westminster) which is now the Double Tree and at the time was also a hotel that Royal was using to house passengers and we arranged a bus as a group. It was very nice and not difficult to arrange. We had a great time as a group who didn't meet until we were at the hotel. I cant remember the name of the bus company but it went quite well. Perhaps you can organize a group on your roll call for a limo or bus?

If you're arranging private transfers or buying train tickets and you have to talk to anyone, be sure to pronounce the name of the port correctly.

It's spelled Harwich, not Harwick. It's pronounced Harridge or Harritch, not Har-witch or Har-wick.
