Weather, transatlantic in August

Another question...

 

Any hint of what the weather may be like in August on the transatlantic to the UK? Rain, fog, hot, warm, cold...? I'm guessing I should bring a jacket?

Any of the above, hot is the least likely. I would definitely bring a jacket, even if the sun is shining the wind across the open decks can make it feel chilly.

Agreed. Seas, of course should be relatively calm, unless there is a storm, or hurricane to the south moving north.

 

Otherwise, not as much "fun" as when they used to do them in December! :eek:

We did a roundtrip TA in late July/early August. We had overnight gales, really heavy seas, endless FOG, torrential rain and flat calm seas with blisteringly hot days.

 

You name it, you could well get it.

To be honest, in August in the UK it can be summer, autumn, winter & spring all on the same day! The sun can shine whilst it's raining! Britain is famed for its changeable weather & often lousy Summer. I live on the coast & people still wear coats along the seafront....it's nearly July! Enough said!!

Been to England very, very often all times of the year. I know to expect that the weather can do anything :). About that Atlantic Ocean....hmmm. :) :)

The thing about crossings is the weather is very unpredictable.

 

Check the weather before you go but I would be prepared for a range of weather conditions.
