I've seen on John's FB page that the 1st ppl in the Red Frog Pub get a free beer & their picture taken. How early do these ppl usually get there? Are they usually diamond & platinum? Should I even bother for the free beer? Thanks! :)

I've done it twice. Normally Platinum and Diamonds have an advantage simply due to the order of the boarding process.

However it can depend on the crowd. My wife and I cruised to the RFP on the Breeze about 20 min after boarding and were the first ones there. The bartender said that Miami was more laid back than other ports. In Galveston, it's almost like the Hunger Games to get there first!

I have also been beat by B2B cruisers that were already on the ship when the boarding process started, so sometimes you have no chance at all.

Still, give it a try. Hint: avoid the elevators and take the stairs!

I was first in the Red Frog Pub last week on Magic. After they called the weddings, they called platinum/diamonds and then FTTF. There weren't many of us in the captain's lounge (maybe 20-25). I made sure to be at the front of the line. Then I skipped the elevators and took the stairs up 2 decks. I've heard this can make a difference as you can usually get up the stairs quicker. Once you're on the ship you just gotta haul booty to get there first. I was in there for at least 10 minutes and no one else showed up during that time, so I guess no one else on my sailing was trying to be first. I was a bit worried that someone from the wedding party would get there before me but no one did. You do get a free beer and they asked for my address to send me a copy of the picture. Try it cause you never know, you might make it! :)

Wife and I try every cruise to get to Red Frog first when available. We have been first each time we tried. The bartenders always say they don't know what we are talking about when it comes to a free beer or pictures. We asked J. Heald and never got a response. I guess if the CD gets up there when they feel like it. We'll keep trying! " No Beer Like A Free Beer"

It only applies to the Red Frog Pub, not the Red Frog Rum Bar. Are you going to the right place?

The B2Bers on the 2nd leg are suppose to be denied the win based on the bartenders knowing that they were on the ship the previous week. But that doesn't always work.

I personally think it's silly to try but also think that if a person has made it in first they shouldn't try again. Let someone else have a chance at the experience.

If I was going to try, I would go either go through the forward dining room to the mid ship stairs, or go up the atrium stairs then through the casino.

There was a guy in Platinum area with me who jumped up and pushed his way to the front of the boarding line behind Diamonds. The Diamonds had quite a lead and sure enough Mr. push ahead was nearly running, I was behind him but the 2 Diamond ladies were sitting there enjoying their beer when we got there. Mr. push was a bit mad. What a way to start a cruise!

I got there first on the Pride when she first came to Tampa back in November. Good beer too! I took my beer with me up to Lido. I was at our meet 'n greet when staff approached me and told me the head of the Red Frog wanted me to go back to the bar. I couldn't imagine why. He made a big deal out of getting the picture and even gave me another beer!

I never understood this race to be the first to the pub, and then recognition from Carnival's social network.

There is zero, or near zero, chance that any handicapped or disabled person will be the first to the pub, and therefore I feel that it is somewhat a discriminatory practice/custom for Carnival to prop up those without any physical disadvantages in a race to reach alcohol.

Saw your picture of John H. FB page and was so excited to see a face I recognized :) Was a bit curious on if you had moved or not. Hope you had a great trip I will be waiting pin and needles for the review.

I have seen people on John's page that others knew were on a B2B. I think they should be disqualified for the second leg.

I have also seen people complaining that they didn't get the free drink just as a poster on here did. I'm sure all they heard was Red Frog and rushed to the Rum bar. Not all ships have the pub. Sometimes I can't tell if people don't listen or if things are shown clearly enough

All of this trouble over a free beer and a picture?

I will be on the Pride from July 5-12. I will buy the first person that sees me at a bar any drink they want up to $15.00. I'll even get you the fruity drink in the whale tail cup. I will snap your picture with my iPhone and email it to you right away.

Well, it all depends on your status and willingness to knock people out of the way to get there! *LOL* *JK*

Usually if you are on a B2B you'll get it. Also, those, like me, who are Platinum and in the first group boarding the ship after the wedding, you get there fast. My friend and I were first in the Frog on the Magic. Boarding started at 11am, we were onboard at 11:05 and in the Frog by 11:10am.....next two to walk in was 15 minutes later!!!!! The other couple looked disappointed.....

Once as first in the pub is good for me, I will gladly let someone else take that honor on my next cruise on the Freedom.....
