New Captains Club Benefit with MGM Resorts

I believe M Life reviews your play each October. You must go once a years to retain your current level. That`s what I was told at Mandalay bay and Delano.

Not only do you have to go but you have to earn your points every year. You don't retain your level by just showing up.

It remains to be seen whether this is a one time status match from Captain's Club to Mlife.

I think that it is going to be a match that can be renewed each year, similar to the Hyatt/MLife partnership.

Since Captain's Club is a "lifetime" program, hopefully one will be able to renew their equivalent MLife status annually, just by picking up the card.

Let me just say that there is a lot of playing involved in getting to the higher levels and I can't imagine that they will just let people have a Platinum status for sailing on a cruise ship. There would be absolutely no point in the partnership if they did.

Well they let Hyatt Diamond have MLIFE Platinum with no casino spend, year after year (as long as you renew as Hyatt Diamond and the partnership agreement continues).

In fact, if you were a Lifetime Hyatt Diamond, you would be "Lifetime" MLIFE Platinum, with the caveat that it is only as long as the partnership continues.

So I am saying it is a good possibility that they will offer the same deal to Celebrity Captain's Club members.

The point in the partnership is to entice Captain's Club members to stay at MLIFE properties to increase revenue, and vice versa.

BTW you can also get MLife status with just hotel (MGM) stays (room revenue) and have zero casino play.

MLIFE is not going to give comps unless you are a gambler.

I guess that may be true. The actual M-Life posted benefits don't amount to that much. I'm thinking about comps. However you have to have 200,000 tier points annually to remain Platinum so I'm really not sure about whether they will keep the level the same if people don't play.

Elite members for instance would be comped MLife Gold Status equivalent.

The 20% is off the prevailing rates and does make for a tangible difference. In some resorts such as Monte Carlo, you'd also get VIP Lounge access which is a HUGE perk when you walk in and see a monstrous line and can walk right by it into the VIP lounge, have a glass of wine, and have the concierge take care of you.

You'll also earn ExpressComps faster and other perks.

Elite+ is matching over to Platinum Status which has several significant additional perks including skip the line for taxis and priority for room upgrades.

Ah, but it is up to 20%, which is not necessarily 20%

That's how I read it...but I will wait a while to ask the questions as it is very new and we all know how long it takes for info to filter down. I am also going to Vegas in Sept, so hopefully I can exchange my Gold MLife for "some" of the perks of Elite. :D

The lady at Blue Chip explained it all out to me including the cruise dates and ship to look at.

I think the Entertainment Tour she said was back stage for the circus show thing.

Cool, thanks for posting this.

If I have this correct, your X Status ensures an M LIFE status from then on, but having M LIFE status fluctuates up or down depending on how often you play in the casinos and therefore your X status would move accordingly.

Mic - I do have to say that this really looks too good to be true.

The proof , as they say, will be in the pudding.

I'm waiting for someone to report they actually received these benefits.

Yes, I suppose it may take some time to implement it across all the areas.

My guess if you are not gambling at MGM properties or on X you won`t see many perks.

The perk I liked (should it turn out to be true) is being able to take our extra (non-refundable) OBC out of the casino in cash without the 5% charge.

Not sure about cashing the non refundable OBC in but if that is possible that is good.:D

That's how I interpreted the above in red.

What else would it mean?

We will be staying at the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas in a few months. When I called to inquire about any extra perks because we are elite in Captains club the person I spoke with didn't seem to know what I was talking about. She just ended up noting it in our reservation. Anyone have any experience with extra MLife benefits because of Captains club? Thanks.

The original announcement said you had to call a special number to get the reservation with the perks

This is corporate MGM and it's brand new. Not really surprising the Bellagio doesn't know anything about it. They probably aren't ever going to have access to anything but the MLife status of guests.

I would call the Captain's Club and ask them how to arrange for MLife benefits.

You might as well give up now. When Royal did this, I spent hours emailing and phoning to try to get MLife status based on D+. I went through various special email addresses and special phone numbers to call. They all either said it was taken care of, or that I would need to come to the MLife desk inside the casino in person to resolve it. One person said that Royal sent them a "list" of D+, but I wasn't on it.

So I physically went to the MLife desk at Mandalay Bay and after 10-15 minutes ended up with a Sapphire level membership card, which anyone off the street could get.

I just gave up. My status still shows Sapphire to this day.

My experience was much better: I am Diamond in Royal's C&A and I already was an M-Life member because I play MyVegas to earn comps for our Vegas visits. To get my M-Life status upgraded to Gold based on my C&A status, I just sent an email to memberservices@mgmresorts.com and they did the upgrade within one week. I did this twice, once for myself and once a few months later for my partner, both time it was this easy.

And it's been really worth my while, the gold M-Life status allows me to book hotels in the MGM chain at an advantageous rate. I'm staying 5 nights at the Vdara in a City Corner Bellagio Lake View Suite next year and the M-Life rate is $300 less on a total of $820 (so that's 35%) than any other deal out there right now. And it's fully changeable if a better deal comes along. Plus you get to use the VIP check-in lines at the hotel and buffets.

Just read this entire thread from the beginning and the mystery will be resolved lol. It's all in here. Exactly how you need to do it...sign up for an M Life Account online. Email M Life with your Captain's Club Member number and M Life Member number and they'll upgrade you. Really, go back and read the entire thread, you'll see exactly how others including I have done it. :)
