Rare Essiesmom Posted June 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2015 Currently Ocean Dream and sailing as the Peace Boat (from Japan), today she transited the Panama Canal westbound. The Peace boat does World Cruises, but unfortunately is usually the last stop for an old ship before the breakers. EM

kybluecruiser Posted June 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Thanks for sharing..... I never got to sail on her. Kind of neat to see carnival's first purpose built cruise ship still going.

RjayB Posted June 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2015 It is amazing how much ships have changed. It looks so small, and where are all the balconies? :p
angelinaxox1 Posted June 29, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Thanks for posting. It is great to see the pictures. The Tropicale was my third ship and still one of my favorites. I loved the itinerary, the ship and traveling with my parents and brother on it.
msmayor Posted June 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Tropicale was my very first cruise 30 years ago. I sailed solo with a group called Singleworld; they matched me up with a roommate and had all sorts of activities planned on board for us. We had buttons to wear along with a paper card to reboard the ship in ports. Regular keys for our rooms that we had to turn in at the end of the trip. Waited in a line the first formal night to meet the captain and have a picture taken with him. Excursions were $25-30 each and all non-alcoholic drinks were included in the fare. No such thing as 'specialty' dining. It was awesome.
LuckyZ Posted June 29, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Brings back memories. Tropicale was our 1st cruise back in 1986 for our honeymoon. I didn't know this ship was still sailing. Amazing
DebJ14 Posted June 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2015 We sailed her out of San Juan for our 20th anniversary in 1994 and then again with the family for Christmas 1995 out of New Orleans. Great memories.
loubetti Posted June 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Crazy as it sounds, I actually like the new funnel! However, it is sad that she replaced the trend-setting Oceanic, which was the previous Peace Boat. With proper care, she has many more years left in her.
