jdyer09 Posted June 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2015 We are sailing 3 to a balcony on the Magic in October. All three are adults. Obviously the third bed would be the sofa, is there a way to request that its the upper bunk instead to allow use of the sofa for the cruise? Has anyone done this with any success? Are stewards accomodating or is there a policy against it? Thanks!
SadieN Posted June 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Sailing at low season you might be able to book a quad. Only then would you have an upper.
love my grandkids Posted June 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2015 If you get a cabin with upper and sofa just tell room steward what you want and he will set up cabin that way.
BullDawg91 Posted June 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2015 You may have to ask him to put the bunk up in the day so that you can sit on the sofa. Our steward recently left the bunk down and the sofa made as a bed for the entire cruise. A child napped up there occasionally so it worked out okay. Jesse1179 Posted June 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2015 We got an up sell to a balcony on our sailing in 2013, 3 people, and the bunk was pulled down. I was the third person so I slept on the sofa, but got it ready for use during the day. The bunk we used for extra storage space.
cb at sea Posted June 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2015 If you're using the sofa bed to sleep on, it will be put back into a sofa during the day...no worries!
SadieN Posted June 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2015 If you're using the sofa bed to sleep on, it will be put back into a sofa during the day...no worries! Need to ask your steward. Sometimes they keep it as a bed all week.
Homosassa Posted June 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2015 If you're using the sofa bed to sleep on, it will be put back into a sofa during the day...no worries! Not our experience on Carnival. We even went to guest services to ask that the sofa be made into a sofa during the day; we were told it was Carnival policy to leave it as a bed for the duration of the cruise if it was being used for sleeping. SadieN Posted June 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2015 Thinking about it..... Suites have fold out couches, those get put away. The 'day bed' style stays made up.
virginiab Posted June 28, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2015 The day bed style sofa does indeed stay made up with bedding during the day, but the bolsters are still in the cabin, so you can use them on the daybed if you want to use that bed for seating. On our last cruise, the room steward asked before making up the "extra" bed if we preferred that he pull down the upper and make that up or make up the day bed. He had the bed of our choice ready by dinner time.
