Carnival Glory vs. NCL Getaway

Hi all! Just read through a bunch of posts of the Glory and the Getaway and need help finalizing my decision :)

I'm debating between the two. My husband and I are going on one with my parents, we're doing balcony and they're doing an inside room.

Both inside and balcony are +$170 more per person for Getaway than inside and balcony on Glory, though balcony comes with the beverage package and inside with $50 credit on Getaway. For me, the beverage package makes up for it as the Getaway is newer, but not sure about my parents with the inside room (specifically +340 total minus $50 credit = $290 extra).

Is it worth the price difference?

Getaway: newer ship, no private island, more slides/activities, don't care about all the extra fee restaurants, first time with NCL

Glory: older ship, private island, been on the cruise line and always had a good time, I think bigger rooms

Any insight/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been on the Getaway and loved it. It is beautiful and spacious. The atreium is awesome. Can't tell you what to do...just my opinion. Casino is big. Lots of huge slides. Back area has adults only area which is nice. Can't compare the 2 since I haven't been on the other one. Have fun deciding:)

The Getaway is definitely forth $200 more per person. I sailed the Liberty which is basically same as the Glory and I have sailed the Getaway.

The Getaway is definitely a better ship IMHO but would still have fun on the Glory.

For the prices and all, Getaway is the way to go, but the Glory and Freedom, both Conquest class Carnival ships are absolutely wonderful (or were pre-fun ship 2.0), I love the size of them. Personally, the Getaway seems too big, but you make it work, the perks are worth it, and NCL's private island remains in my top 3 islands (Bermuda, Grand Turk, NCL's island).

Just off the Getaway and Carnival Liberty last year. Both are good. Now that you booked the Getaway, it is best if you book dinners and shows online. Probably won't have trouble in the 3 main dining rooms though. On our cruise it seemed that the 2nd night of a show had room even without reservations. A little more pre-planning on Getaway. Didn't get to a comedy show but the line with reservations always looked long. Always plenty to do on the ship.

So glad you chose Getaway! Change is nice! We were on Breakaway, and loved her, and have Getaway booked for NYE cruise. Glory is a nice ship - but really can't compare to the entertainment, food choices and water slides on GA. Enjoy!

Just off the Glory last week. These ships are not even comparable. Every cruise is what you make of it - but, the Glory doesn't have a chance against the Getaway(currently our favorite ship). The Glory could possible compete against the Dawn, Sun, Sky, etc. but not the larger ships.

I will say the rooms are REALLY spacious on the Glory. On the Getaway, we had to look for little spots to tuck things away. Tons of space on the Glory. If you will be sitting in your cabin the ENTIRE cruise - choose the Glory. Otherwise, sorry Carnival, Getaway wins.
