cruisinnorth Posted July 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Hi All, There has been a lot of discussion here about the itinerary changes that now include an overnight stay for cruises over ten days. We will be taking a 14 day Caribbean cruise in February and we have an overnight stay in I believe Curacao. I haven't had a cruise on Celebrity since 2009 and have never cruised where the itinerary included an overnight in a port. My question is, how does Celebrity (Eclipse) handle getting on and off the ship during an overnight stay. Can we get on and off all night? Is there a curfew, can't get back on board after 10:00 p.m. for example? This is not an end of the world question, but, I just wonder what happens in these situations. Thanks, Dave

FTLcruisers Posted July 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2015 we're only done it with Celebrity in Europe, but you can get off when you want and actually you don't even have to get back on until the next day if you don't want to. It allows you to go out and have a late dinner, party in a local bar until the wee hours or even stay over at a friend's home or hotel. wallie5446 Posted July 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Off and on as often as you wish, at any hour, up until 45 minutes till sail away as always.

Northern Aurora Posted July 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2015 We've had overnight stays on several Celebrity cruises in a variety of ports (Seattle, Honolulu, Venice, Quebec, Buenos Aires and I suspect one or two more if I think about the various itineraries). We have never had any problems leaving or returning late at night.

Thanks, Dave You will not find me at 2 am on a dark down town street in the relatively safe City near me (Toronto). You should google the places (Islands) you plan to be late at night. If it was me, I would be taking Cabs from door to door and not get carried away drinks wise. Read the stats and govern yourself accordingly. cruisinnorth Posted July 4, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted July 4, 2015 Hi All, Thanks for the help. We're not too much into the night owl sort of thing so it probably won't make and difference, but it is good to know the rules. Karysa Posted July 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 4, 2015 What happens if your first night is an overnight. When would the muster drill be? I believe our departure will be at 6 (day 2) which is dinner time. I can't figure out when a good time to do it would be as the next day ( day 3 ) we anchor at 8 a.m.. Thanks for any insight on this.:)

I'd think it will be similar for your sailing. :)

Thanks:)

We didn't actually sail until midnight the second day. I was expecting the drill to be the second day and unfortunately we had to cancel a tour we had planned for the first day. That's the ship and voyage I am speaking of. That's awful. I hope that will not be the case for us. I would much rather come back 1/2 hr earlier on day 2 and get it done before sail away. Thanks for the information.:)
Rare Cruise Raider Posted July 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 4, 2015 I believe the casino will be closed while in port but for those overnights that happen at the beginning of the cruise, is everything else much the same? Do they still have the captain's club elite lounge open? Is there any paring down on the entertainment onboard?
Tiggertastic Posted July 4, 2015 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2015 As yo get off there is an electronic board that says when to get back on for instance on Venice on the Saturday when we arrived it said be back by 3.30 Sunday. You can come and go as you would a hotel
Jimbo59 Posted July 6, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 6, 2015 What about leaving the ship at one port and meeting the ship at the next port?
Tiggertastic Posted July 6, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 6, 2015 With permission only. One HD told us that anyone leaving in port without authority was an illegal alien disembarking where not expected and the ship is fined $000s however they are often happy to arrange it in advance. We couldn't however work out what happens if you just miss the ship and how do they differentiate.
susietb Posted July 6, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 6, 2015 You just have to fill out a form at guest relations. There is a notice about it in Daily Program. (This was for leaving in Haifa and reboarding in Ashdod, last year)
lola2013 Posted July 7, 2015 #21 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Koolforkatz, I am doing the Honolulu to Vancouver sailing next April. I have gotten three different answers from three different Celeb reps regarding tender service in Maui...perhaps you know the answer... I am looking at a non-Celeb tour on the 2nd day in Maui...scheduled for 7am (we are asked to gather at 6:45). I can't get a straight answer as to if the tenders run all night or if they stop at a certain time the first night and then begin the morning of the 2nd day. I don't want to book a tour, which I will have to pay for upfront, only to find out I can't get off the ship. Can you help me with that? Thanks, Susan
sasset Posted July 7, 2015 #22 Share Posted July 7, 2015 It's been several years for us, but when we were in Maui on Celebrity the tenders ran all night. We got off super early on day two to drive to Hana.

Thanks, Susan Sorry I can't help you with this, although I see someone else has. I do know people stayed out very late in Maui and made it back to the ship. And there were no signs on the pier or ship that said you had to be back by a certain time.
