Smoking on Liberty of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Can anyone who has recently been aboard the LOS, please tell me where there are any public smoking areas on the ship??

I know about the casino, and I also know smoking on our balcony is forbidden, but are there any places around the ship in general, where a smoker can enjoy a cigarette?

Thanks in advance for you help!

You can also smoke cigarettes and cigars in the Connoisseur Club on Deck 5.

Sorry, I'm booked for the 11-13 cruise out of Galveston. I've been cruising on only Celebrity ships. I forgot RCI has a different smoking policy, what is it? Can someone smoke in the casino? Can someone smoke on their balcony? Can someone smoke on the pool deck? Gosh, what is their smoking policy?

thank you in advance,

Winnie

Do make a point of finding this place; it's on the Promenade, far forward on the starboard side. The decor is lovely and when we sailed LOTS last fall we never encountered another living soul in there. I image it will be turned into something that'll get more use pretty soon but for now, enjoy!

On our LOS cruise two weeks ago the outdoor smoking area was Port (left) side pool and promenade decks. As mentioned indoor smoking is limited to the casino and the Connoisseur Club, which is the cigar lounge on deck 5. (Balconies have been off limits since Jan. 1, 2014).

Smoking "area" is a farce when smokers can't keep their pollution from drifting to areas where smoking is not allowed

Oh, lighten up (pun intended). I'd much rather smokers have decent, well-ventilated designated areas that I can plan around to minimize my exposure than having them smoke in random balconies or other areas on the ship. I'm as anti-smoke as anyone, but I refuse to treat smokers as pariahs when they are following the rules. It's not their fault the smoking areas chosen allow smoke to drift elsewhere. What's next, blaming them for the direction the wind is blowing? Sheesh. I appreciate smokers asking here for information about where they are allowed to smoke. To all you responsible ones out there trying to do your best, thanks.

Sorry, but I have trouble putting the words responsible and smoker together. Love to give you folks the benefit of the doubt, but I've been burned too many times....no put intended.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses to my question.

In addition to making sure my husband is properly dressed for dinner, I must also be assured that he knows exactly where he is permitted to smoke! We have a balcony cabin, and I am very glad that he will no longer be using it to smoke.

Wow it took 9 posts in a thread that mentions smoking before someone tried to start an argument. Is that a CC record? Maybe we're evolving? :p

THANKS for the info. It was late, I apologize to anyone offended. I'm just sorry there's smoking allowed in the casino.

I'M looking forward to this first cruise from GALVESTON. THANK you ROYAL CARIBBEAN.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just off Freedom:

smoking all along deck 4, port side.

deck 11, port side

deck 12, port side

casino - only in some areas -- might be at the bar as mentioned above

Not on balconies.

I traveled with a friend who smoked and our group of 6 was often on the smoking deck just hanging out and reading. There weren't a ton of smokers, but I'll say this: it's a friendly lot!

On the FOS there is a smoking side and a non-smoking side. The two are separated by the bar and the stairs to the promenade. Many people who aren't there to gamble tend to congregate at the bar to smoke. They have "relatively" good ventilation systems in the casino.

I too would rather have a smoker ask questions about where to smoke. They seem to be trying to impact everyone as little as possible. It is still legal in the USA to smoke, so until it is ILLEGAL - let's not demonize people because you don't like it. It's a big ship and we can all avoid it if we like.

I usually try to stay away from smoking threads. I do appreciate the question because I am a smoker and like to keep up with where I can smoke. My wife does not smoke. I do not smoke in the house. In the casino I play the tables. If no one is smoking at the table I will get up and go away from the table to smoke. If I go to play a slot and the person next to me is not smoking I will not smoke. It does bother me if I am playing at a slot first and am already smoking. Someone sits down next to me and complains about it. That does not seem right. I try to respect others. If RCCL was totally non smoking I would probably go on a line where you can smoke. My choice. If you choose to go on a line that allows smoking don't complain if people are following the rules. It was your choice to go on a line that allows smoking.

The cigar smokers with whom I have spoken do NOT like cigarette smoking in the Connoisseur Club.

Ironic, isn't it? ;)

Winnie, I haven't been on RC for over 10 years but the agent told me smoking in the casino was only allowed at the bar, not the tables. Does anybody know if this it correct?

It is not correct.

Your consideration is appreciated. That is usually the "unspoken rule" in Vegas: if a smoker sits down at a machine next to a non-smoker, they don't impose. If a non-smoker sits down next to someone is smoking - you can't complain. (Especially because you'd be on the smoking side of the casino. :))

And - for the "extend your life" comments, I'm sure ALL of the smokers reading these posts have heard it before and will hear it again. That's not the point of this thread.
