Sharonbel Posted July 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2015 We are sailing on the Regal in October and want to bring on bottled water and maybe wine prior to sailing since we are flying so it is impossible to bring it with us. Hopefully we can walk to the ship from the store....Thanks
Astro Flyer Posted July 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) When sailing on the Royal last October it was from Brooklyn so guessing that's the NYC port you're asking about. We stayed overnight at a hotel close to the cruise terminal & walked along Van Buren St which appeared to be the primary street near the port. We only found smaller 7-11 size markets where we purchased soda & wine. I'd estimate it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the port & hopefully someone who knows the area better can provide additional info for you. Water on the ship is safe to drink & we just bring a refillable bottle instead of lugging bottles on the ship. Colo Cruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2015 There are some bodegas within the vicinity of the pier. I suppose you could walk.
SteerageJack Posted July 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2015 There is no nearby grocery as far as I know. If you are taking a car service or taxi from the airport you can ask the driver to stop at a store and you can run in. If you have to walk from the ship I have a suggestion below. If you walk from the terminal, go through the pedestrian gate in the fence and keep going to straight to Van Burnt. From there, make a right on Van Brunt for two blocks and you will see Al's Wine and Liquors at 329 Van Brunt at the corner of Van Brunt and Sullivan. Total distance maybe 1/2 mile. The area is safe to walk in. There is reportedly a better store 4 blocks farther south on Van Brunt Ave. called Dry Dock Wine and Liquors at 424 Van Brunt. caribill Posted July 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2015 Locate the port on Google maps. Then you can have it search for grocery stores or liquor stores in the area.
Brighton Line Posted July 30, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2015 There is a Fairway Market in Red Hook you can ask your metered cab to stop at, it is large so if the meter is running you will be paying $0.50 per minute while the cab waits. It is a very large grocery store with a lot of specialty items. Don't know they have wine. 480-500 Van Brunt Street Brooklyn, NY 11231, United States Hours Today: 7:00am to 11:00pm (Thursday) https://www.fairwaymarket.com/
