Interesting offer from the upsell dept

We received an email today from the upsell dept at NCL offering us a second week (either before or after) our Sept Getaway cruise for 25% off. Never heard of this one. Haven't checked prices yet and don't really even think the DH can do another week from work, but, interesting none the less. Anyone else ever gotten an offer like this?

What is your sail date and ship? Out of curiosity. I would love to add another week but prices have climbed.

We got the same e-mail yesterday regarding our October BA cruise, and DH forwarded it to me, adding "Hahahahahahaha" at the top.

For some itineraries, it might be nifty, but sailing back and forth to Bermuda twice in a fortnight didn't seem all that appealing to us. YMMV, of course.

If I got that email, and I didn't, I would counter at 25% off the fare I paid for my booked week. (Of course in my case the current price is much higher than I paid.)

Interesting and perhaps tempting offer, but I do have to wonder if it works for most people. One poster mentioned not wishing to do the same run twice and that's certainly not appealing to everyone. Also, your sail date is soon and most cannot easily change plans what with work, etc.

For me it would involve the discounted fare, taxes, insurance, DSC, drinks and all that stuff. Then take into consideration fees that might be involved if you have to change your flight and extra parking charges. And the furry ones would get to spend an additional week at the Catnip Inn and that's not cheap.

Now if the offer was 25% off for both weeks the offer is starting to get sweeter:)

If I recall, this was happening to a few CC'r here a few months ago on select ship & sailing (mid/late June) dates, offer by NCL - some believed it had to do with bookings ...

Those threads were buried by now deep here, unless one of you reading happened to be among those offering the "option" to let's make a deal :D

Yep, a lot of that is our problem as well. The DH is in advertising and between now and the end of the year is his busiest time. The only reason we're taking the week in Sept is because it's both of our birthdays that week and we've always tried to make something work around his schedule. No way we can do two weeks. Also, we used skymiles for the flights so it would cost us some money to change flights.

I did check prices just for the heck of it and the week before is about $1,000 more than we paid for the same category of cabin. It's Labor Day week so that would explain it. Even though, it would still be a second week for about $1000 less than we paid (that's with the 25% off). The week after is only about $400 more right now than we paid and with the discount, would be about $2000 off. Very tempting but just no way to make it work with the schedule.

Has anyone gone through with this? We actually all had a week off work after our most recent cruise, so had this offer been available back then it would have been sweet (especially since it was on Jade which alternates between two 7 night itineraries)

Ah well, win some lose some :D

Do you have any idea if it's 25% off the current price or their book price? Also is it for the same category, H6 to H6, what about if you wanted a H2 or M1?

This is very interesting as we have a B2B booked on the Gem in 2016 during these time periods.

Got the offer too, however, for the 3 day weekend cruise prior to or after our current 4 day girls trip and after the discount would mean that the equivalent of a 7 day cruise to the Bahamas would cost us each $690 USD.

There's 3 of us sailing and that would be before service charges, insurance and the 3rd drink package ... ummmm no, not even close to being worth it! If I'm paying a base price of $690 for a cruise, I'm going to more than just the Bahamas on the Sky!

I did not get an email, but I got a voice mail message from NCL saying if we chose to cruise "again in 2015" (no mention of consecutive cruise with the one we already have planned) that we would get 25% off. I also wondered whether this was 25% off the price on the website or 25% off the brochure rate, sort of like the "half off" for 3rd and 4th passengers is not really half off. The message also did not say it was limited to certain ships. Perhaps this would have been explained had I returned the call.

According to my PCC this fall has a LOT of empty cabins available so they are trying all sorts of marketing. E-mail blasts are cheap. This follows the one I received earlier offering cabin upgrades if I would move my cruise from February 2016 to November or December 2015.

If they get a few to bite then it works....

They were offering a lot of great Interline rates on Getaway for August and September. I got a great deal on a Spa balcony over the week of labor day. I usually end of booking Carnival, but the with the rates NCL was offering combined with a new ship, it was time to try something else.

Although I did see this "promo" posted by a TA on another site that it was coming....but nothing personally to me yet.
