ThaNectar Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Arrived at EZ cruise parking at 10:15 am, was at the terminal by 10:30 and on board by 11:00 am. Very smooth process- The majority of the staff was extremely nice, courteous and very friendly. The ship was very Clean, nice and provided a very relaxing atmosphere. The best drinks are made at the pool bar (on deck 11) The bartenders were beyond helpful and wonderful...they make very strong drinks. I would suggest tipping them early and tbey will take extra good care of you. Those guys get an A+ The over all atmosphere of the ship/ cruise was much more laid back and pretty much not much energy on the ship compared to carnival. I have cruised NCL, Royal and Carnival about 4 times each. The Caribbean band played out by the pool every sea day and we're enjoyable to listen to. Room steward was very friendly and did a great job as well. The waiters at dinner were fantastic while the food was average (although the waitstaff were very eager to please and made sure u liked everything or tbey would bring u something else) The country band was cheesy and would be more what I would expect to see on carnival. Not good at all and I am a big country fan who usually loves any live band. You don't want to miss motown night on the promenade. ..that dude was amazing. 70's night on the promenade was very fun as well. Now only a couple of negatives. ***if u are worried about political correctness, u should stop reading now*** - the ship was over run with Mexicans (people who reside in mexico, not Mexican-Americans)...i would say over 50%. They were rude, loud , obnoxiouos, demanding, rude , obnoxiouos, starting drunken fights with the staff, rude...u get the hint. They would cut in line, step in front of you at any point to get their way, the kids running wild, no discipline...it almost ruined the experience. I have cruised more than a dozen times and have never seen this. - the only other negative was the lady black jack dealer from the Philippines. She was as rude as they come and acted like she was doing u a favor by allowing u to gamble. After my experience at the casino, I didn't go back. Other than those 2 major negatives, the ship, staff and all other services were fantastic. Edited August 2, 2015 by ThaNectar

iluvit! Posted August 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Sorry about the rudeness you experienced sailing out of Galveston. Usually these cruises have a large percentage of polite and friendly Texans. Maybe there were some of those Quincenara groups that have been discussed on the boards. texankhj Posted August 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Thanks for your review. Sailing on the Navigator end of August. Always try to go when school is in session. On another note: living in Texas Trump is right on. I am looking forward to sitting on my balcony and watch the ocean go by. 7 nights of no concrete or cars. SA Mom Posted August 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2015 I was on Navigator July 26-Aug 2 and did not experience any of that behavior. Just goes to show how different everyone's experience can be.
nomoreknothead Posted August 4, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2015 I have sailed Navigator with the same type of "rude" people. I can over look most things but sometimes it's OVER THE TOP!! I hate that everyone can't be taught RESPECT!
rushedmom Posted August 4, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Great review. We have been on Navigator 3 times in the last year and only had friendly people. Sorry you had rude ones, have had that experience before and not fun.

Actually per the Capt. when he was greeting people on Monday, their were only 521 Mexican nationals out of the over 4000 on board. Some were a little pushy but this was one of the most calmest cruises I have been on in some time. Not many complaints to be had and actually there seemed to be more teenagers then anybody else that I noticed especially after 11:00pm in the Café. IMHO: When you feel this way about any RCI crew member it will help all of us(crew included) if you find the appropriate manager and report the situation on the spot. If a crew member is having a bad day it will be taken care of. If that crew member has these days too often (3 times) they will be off the ship at the next port. If they need training they will get it. If you say nothing the problem goes on.

cb at sea Posted August 4, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 4, 2015 I believe that BJ dealer was on our last cruise! If they're going to take your money, at least make the process enjoyable. I have cruised more than a dozen times and have never seen this. I can relate to this and I am so sorry if this sounds "Un PC" too. We went to South Padre Island this summer. My favorite Texas Beach. Over run by Mexican Nationals. The beach was so crowded. It was a turn off. We went grocery shopping for our condo and exactly as the OP said. The kids are rude and have no discipline. The take over the whole aisle in the store and dont move (no courtesy) They are just a rude group of people! I find the being around them does not bring out the best in me at all. I think it is important to not project our expectations of manners onto these Mexican Nationals. They are a different culture I am so turned off my this. Knowing that NOS is the same way makes me not want to go on this ship. Also remember that our government is allowing these Mexicans in and they are allowed to stay illegal Edited August 5, 2015 by lrn2cruise
PamJack Posted August 5, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Where did you go for your muster drill? Inside? On the deck? Just curious. We've had two very different mustering experiences, so I'd like to be mentally prepared.

My cruise last year and this year on Navigator were very long and outside, this needs improvement, many lines do this better.
Lazz Posted August 5, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Thanks for your review, understand completely about the rude passengers, had the same experience once sailing from PR. We had just the opposite experience sailing from PR. We had a Quincenara group onboard and found all of them (adults and children) very polite, yet lots of fun. They could get loud as a group, but so can any group having a good time. I guess teenage groups don't bother me so much because I am a high school teacher. I think the cruise director and her staff are to be commended, because they kept the group busy having fun with activities. The Quincenara families welcomed us to join in every time. Don't rule out ships just because they have a certain group on board or leaving from a certain port.
