verandas on the Volendam

Interested in the Volendam 10-dayer next Fall. This would be our first time on Holland, so we are not familiar with the "secrets" of Voldendam balcony booking.

Are there any balcony secrets? For instance, is one location better than the other. Any balconies larger than others, in the same category.

I've ordered a brochure. However, from looking at various websites, it doesn't appear there are any "aft" balconies. Are there?

Would you say that basically A, AA, B, BB categories are basically the same, except for location. Is there any area where there's alot of noise?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Also, does the Volendam have any sister ships. I think I've read most of the reviews on Volendam, but sometimes one can pick up alot of information by reading about a ship's sisters.

Check out the deck plans on HAL's web site http://www.hollandamerica.com

Click on Fleet, Volendam, then deck plans.

All the A,AA,B,BB, cabins/verandahs are the same size. No aft cabins on this ship or her sister ship, the Zaandam. Only Vista ships, Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, Westerdam & Noordam (not out yet) have aft cabins.

The only difference in the cabins is location. We actually prefer a cabin in the aft part of the ship - seems to be quieter back there.

When choosing a cabin take a good look at what's above or below you. Do you stay up all night gambling? Then being above the Casino is all right; but if not...

Do you want to be closer to the aft pool? Or a straight-shot up/down to food?

Just a couple of thoughts to keep in mind.
