General question about tier levels

I know this is the NCL section of the forums, so maybe not the best place to post this but you good people of CC are "experts" so hoping you could atleast steer me in the right direction.

Me and the wife have been cruising for a few years, all with NCL. And while we are not unhappy with NCL by any means, with all the recent changes we are wondering what else is out there and if the grass is greener on the other side.

As you can see from my signature, we have racked up the points rather quickly. We're actually platinum members on NCL (big whoop right lol), and further more, Gold tier levels in the casino. I do not have an outside TA, and book all my cruises thru Laura at CAS who I have dealt with for out past 5-6 bookings and she is always great with the deals.

My question is...obviously Carnival or Royal Caribbean doesn't care how much money we've given to NCL over the years. But maybe they would be interested in some new customers? While I wouldn't expect the same level of deals and perks we get from NCL, maybe they can give us some type of rate to entice us to try them out? Without a TA, is there anyway to go about asking for this?

I would highly recommend trying other lines. They all have different strengths and weaknesses. You will have to start at the bottom of those cruise lines respective programs however. You "earn" the statuses by spending money with the cruise line. More days at sea, higher tier. More money gambled in the casino, higher tier. Unfortunately, no other cruise line is going to give you their benefits because you were a long time NCL customer. This should not stop you from trying them however. You might find a different line now meets your needs, or it might just reaffirm your loyalty to NCL. Either way there is no bad days at sea.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago on the Holland America board discussing MSC's matching loyalty club tier levels. Click http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2237898 to see more. I have never cruised MSC - in fact, I know nothing about the line - but I thought this was interesting.

With casino status, it might be worth purusing the casino clubs of other lines to see if they will dangle a discount at you to try to get you to come spend money on them. It's worth researching what line you might like best and then trying to figure out how to get ahold of their casino loyalty department to see if they will do anything for you.

(As far as general loyalty, yeah, nobody cares -- but for the casino, it's quite different.)

Thanks all.

It would be either Royal or Carnival as we live in NYC so we like the extreme convenience of being 30 mins from port and getting on the ship. No added travel expenses or plans to worry about. Will check out their itineraries and maybe look into their casino clubs to give them a call.

The casinos on Royal, Princess, and Carnival …...won't acknowledge any other cruise lines status for any kind of discount or perks
