Can you give a few more specifics?

Are you looking for a driver from Civitavecchia for a day trip into Rome? Or will you be staying in Rome?

Do you want a private tour? Small group walking tour?

There are a number of reputable agencies in Rome that offer interesting tours that might appeal to young teens, everything from tours of various underground sites, to visits to gladiator schools to "Angels and Demons" tours. Depends on your time, budget and interests....

Best idea is to do some research on existing tours and see what interests you. If you want to do a private driver from Civitavecchia, it will be $$$$ but you can personalize the day with the things you want to see most.

There are many companies that offer private tours as well as group tours. We have used these companies for private tours in Rome and have enjoyed them all.

We have used this company for group tours in Rome and also enjoyed them. These tours are walking tours.

You will see other companies mentioned often on this board such as:

We were extremely pleased with Aldo Monti and Yourtourinitaly.com You can tailor your day with them and see whatever you want. The Vatican museum takes a while to get through and can be very crowded. This may not excite your 12 year old DS, so you may want to exclude so that you have more time to spend at St. Peter's Basilica, the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, etc. My teens (and us too) also enjoyed the Vatican scavi tour, which takes you to the tomb of St. Peter 40 ft. below the Basilica. Really cool and something your DH will remember for the rest of his life.
