klass2 Posted August 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Hi all! I will be going on my first carnival cruise next month and have a random question that I don't think I've seen addressed. We are traveling as a group of 9 in two staterooms and are renting a 12 passenger van to hang out in Florida for a few days before we fly home. The rental company doesn't have any full size vans at their port locations and doesn't provide a shuttle to the airport location from the port The easiest thing for us to is to have one adult get off the ship separately, take a cab to the airport, get the van and return to pick up the rest of us. This way we don't have to pay for a shuttle for 9 people to the airport or have 8 people (6 of them kids) sitting outside the port waiting for an hour or more. Will we be allowed to have one person leave by themselves or are we required to have an entire stateroom disembark together? Thanks in advance. Davey Wavey Posted August 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Staterooms don't have to disembark together. One person can leave when they call your self-assist floor and everyone else can leave after they call your zone.
riffatsea Posted August 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2015 People can get off the ship as they like to disembark. Adults can get on the ship as they like as well. The whole stateroom does not have to get on/off together.
klass2 Posted August 10, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Phew. Thank you for the replies. That will work out so much better for our ginormous family.
Rare Roz Posted August 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2015 The entire cabin doesn't have to disemark at one time. It's done by color groups that are assigned based on post-cruise travel plans. Roz
Davey Wavey Posted August 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) It's done by color groups that are assigned based on post-cruise travel plans. Is that maybe not Carnival? All the ships I have been on are done: Self-Assist by deck (2 decks at a time starting with the lowest and highest and working toward the middle), and then zone numbers (3 zones at a time). If you have an early flight and go to guest services with your plane itinerary, they assign you to zone 1/2/3 or recommend self-assist. Faster to the fun, platinum, diamond are also given zone 1/2/3 tags. All the tags are blue...no other colors. 7upp Posted August 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Have you considered renting two vehicles instead of one big van?
snowskier Posted August 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Have you considered renting two vehicles instead of one big van? Why?
klass2 Posted August 10, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Have you considered renting two vehicles instead of one big van? Of course. But with the configurations we need for kids in car seats and the space needed for all of our luggage a van works best for us.
