what is story on Paul Rutter? He was CD on Legend of the Seas last year...didn't see him listed anywhere on current list. Just curious.

He is the regular CD of Grandeur, and is on the current list.

Why do you choose to read a thread and comment on something that means nothing to you?

 

I don't care about certain topics on this forum so I just move on and respect those who do.

Some CDs are more social and approachable than others.

Some CDs are the opposite of all of the above.

So, if you cruise often for the pleasure of just being on the sea a knowledge of the CD helps you plan everything else, ie; meal time, shows, activities, excursions, and sea days. It just pays to know who does what if you want an idea of how a particular cruise is going to be "directed."

I don't choose a cruise because of a CD....but if a CD is on board a sailing that I am on, that I have enjoyed in the past, that is very nice.

 

I actually believe Activity Managers are perhaps more important, simply because they may actually be even more visible around the ship than a CD -- although really could CD's are mingling with cruisers as much as they can, but they do have other responsibilities.

 

If who is the CD doesn't matter, simply pay no attention to this thread -- simple as that.

 

In looking over the list of cruises you have been on, you should have seen Mitch Merrucci onboard Grandeur of the Seas if you were onboard and he was the CD at the time......he has always been a very visibile CD and extremely personable and fun. He was on Grandeur for quite a while as his regular assignment.

Joff's already said he's on Ovation and Explorer in Australia for the Winter. Judging by what he's saying his contracts are as follows:

Indy until Sep 19.

Break from Sep 19 until Nov 18.

Ovation November 18 until mid January

Explorer Mid January until mid March.

Break from Mid March until mid May.

Indy from Mid May next year (probably until Sep 2017)

Gordon Whatman is retired, but will be filling-in from time-to-time if needed (see Ovation - May 2016)

Hopefully someone who is traveling on Anthem now can ask him and report back to us.

 

He began this contract on March 15, so he is due for a break mid-July, and should return from his break mid-September.

 

Whether he goes back to Anthem remains to be seen, as Abe is supposed to have the 4 month contract on Anthem with Dru doing the 2 month vacation fill-in, unless something has changed.

 

Hmmmmm...have not sailed with Abe.....still hopefully for John and Katrina though...John encouraged my now hubby to propose to me so I feel like I should reward him for a job well done :D

Saw John again today and he confirmed he will definitely be on Anthem until the end of September now and possibly into October. As of now, he still doesn't know who will take his place come October.

I care, and so do the other participants on this thread. Yes, I will choose a cruise based on the CD.

 

Why do you choose to read a thread and comment on something that means nothing to you?

 

I don't care about certain topics on this forum so I just move on and respect those who do.

I won't sheesh and shush and will NOT choose a cruise for the CD, but I really like to see my favorites too.:)

Leigh is on the Carnival FREEDOM. His sidekick Frankie is on Carnival LIBERTY. Erky retired from cruise life a while ago to marry and work as a pilot in Turkey.

Anyone sailed with John and Katrina on the mega-ships? I've been with them only on Enchantment and found John heavy on the PA; their real strength was being around and interacting individually and in groups with the passengers, great people skills. I wonder how they shine on with thousands more people.
