Allure ? Anyone ?

Allure OTS - Jerome Sueur *May 19 for all of the European cruises thru Oct 25 then who?

If you are on AL in the next two months you'll have him. Sailed with him 2 months ago and is quite good, Not the best but certainly not the worst. With AL being such a big ship the CD doesn't matter at all.

The CD when Allure goes back to FLL is unknown.

I am asking this as a question. Not as a slam. I am just trying to understand?

Why do people put so much value into a cruise director? I personally think they add absolutely NO value to a cruise. Other than screaming the word bingo, and giving a shopping speech directing you to the places that have paid to advertise, Personally I think they are completely unnecessary. so my question is. What value do they actually add to you personally? I have zero involvement with them and really don't care to... I find them annoying.

Does anyone know how often Cruise Directors switch ships? When they leave for a break, do they come back to the same ship afterwards?

They usually are on a ship for 4 to 6 months and take 2 months off. They usually stay on the same ship for 3 years.

We don't participate in tons of activities but I can tell the effect of a good and bad CD.

On Oasis and Allure it doesn't matter at all who the CD is as it has so much going on it is very easy to avoid them.

I'll give you an example of good and bad: On Serenade we found Casey Pelter to be rubbish. He only scheduled one show per evening at an inconvenient time for half of the cruise, was invisible and left lots to his AM Carlos (Now CD on Majesty) and also had a really boring morning show (and I mean boring).

But Joff Eaton and Leigh Xuereb were both very visible even though they had a much larger ship than Casey, They scheduled enjoyable shows at good times and were funny without being OTT and annoying (John Blair). They also did good and informative morning shows which still had some humour. Jimmy Rhodes' "How u cruisin?" morning show was also good.

That's great to know. We're hoping to have Amy again on Radiance next summer.

Amy has done 2 years on RD and with Steve now coming over there it is possible Amy could be reassigned. BTW: Steve was a great AM so I imagine he would be a good CD if he is permanent CD on Radiance.

Just speculating here, but Steve has a 2 month contract on RD, so he's doing a fill-in, and Amy is likely still the regular CD there (doing 4 months on, followed by 2 months off).

Time will tell, but it's a pretty good guess that Amy will be back on Radiance Dec through beginning of April, on break April and May, and back again June through Sept, following the same pattern until her 3 years on that ship is up.

Well, this makes me very sad. I'll be on Freedom in September with Casey. :(

Many people rate him highly and he is getting good reviews at Freedom but on Serenade he got consistently poor reviews and I was one of them. But on FR it doesn't matter as much as SR when it comes to who the CD is.

Have a great cruise.

Steve was on the Vision TA last spring and I thought he was excellent. I am so bummed that he is not going to be on the fall TA as he had said he would be.

Jerome is going on vacation when this cruise ends, he is not going to return to Allure, but does not yet know which ship he will work on next, but he will keep working at RCCL.

Maybe on Oasis and Allure you do not need a CD, but I for one enjoyed him and his partner in crime Cuddy Cudworth very much when cruising on Allure in November 2014

It'll be great to have Graham Seymour on Explorer! We had him on Rhapsody earlier this year for a 40-day B2B2B.

He sometimes does these really cool videos on his morning shows -- my favorites are his 'Grub Tub' and his 'Mini Me' videos.

I was on the Explorer last weeks and on the morning show Tim Connor (but I wasn't paying full attention) mentioned he will be departing in 13 days which makes it the end of the current sailing and having a 3 month break as his wife is expecting.

OK - there have been some major changes to the list.

I need some help filling-in the following blanks:

Allure: Jerome's break begins next week. Who will be the next CD, and is Sept 4 the correct handover date?

Anthem: Joff's break starts September 15. Who will be the next CD?
