Hi,

Being my first cruise on Princess, can you please clarify for me which areas are the adults only (aka quieter zones)? Also, which are for free, and which cost extra. I know that the Sanctuary charges, but do they charge for that pool as well? Any and all information is much appreciated and thank you all in advance!! :D

The adult only areas are the the Sanctuary, Spa Pool (near the Sanctuary, but free to all adults), the aft pool, and Skywalkers after 10 PM. The casino is also adults only (younger can walk through it, but not stay), but do not expect it to be quiet.

You may want to go to the Princess web site and download the "Cruise Answer Book" as it may answer many questions about Princess.

The casino, of course. Princess has a good kids' club which keeps them occupied so they aren't running amok. Of course, there may be some kids around, but fewer than on Carnival, for instance.

FWIW, we had to ask the bar server to ask some noisy running around kids to leave Skywalkers well after 10 a few times on our recent cruise. It seemed like unless someone complained they don't ask kids to leave at 10. We really didn't have any issues with loud or poorly behaved kids except in Skywalkers for some reason which we really enjoyed sitting in in the evenings. I hardly saw any little kids on our cruise until we were gathered for things like the muster drill. They all seemed to be in the kids club a lot. We brought our teens and there were many teens but they were all very polite when they were in public areas.

Not worried about them, just want the occasional "retreat" with none of the little darlings around.

The Lotus Spa pool (on most ships) which many call the Sanctuary Pool is our favorite. We have never even been in the other pools... too crowded, too noisy.

The Lotus Spa pool is adults only as others have stated. The nicest thing about it is it is quiet and most pax think it is part of the Sanctuary, so they don't go there.

Rarely any bar/drink service - but who goes to a pool to drink?

There are approx. 10 very nice loungers, 2 hot tubs, 2 showers and the pool has the machine for swimming against the current (when it works).

Is there a Lotus Spa Pool on Grand? :)

Is the Retreat and the Sanctuary the same thing??? Sorry for sounding dumb, but I know there's a charge for the Sanctuary, right? We're sailing the first time on the Regal in December. I love to lay out by the pool. I guess my question is, is there an adult area with pool, loungers and bar service with no extra charge to use ???

Yes, the Retreat pool is free to use. You have to pay for your drinks though!:D

I think I worded that wrong....were getting the all inclusive drink package. Just wasn't sure about the Retreat. Are there lounges around the Retreat Pool? Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a bar at the pool and loungers for your use. There are pictures of the pool in my review in my signature.:)
