Sherbertscamper Posted August 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Is it necessary to prepurchase tickets for the Megatrain to Southampton, or is there plenty of room on a Saturday morning? Thanks for all of the great information on this forum!

John Bull Posted August 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) it's not just a matter of whether there's space, Megatrain tix can ONLY be booked on-line and a minimum of the day before travel. Prices usually increase significantly as the date draws closer. I've just done some dummy Megatrain bookings..... - can't book any trains for today. - early-morning train tomorrow is £12 - same train for 3rd October is £1. You can only travel on the train that you've booked, no cancellation or amendment. If you change your mind or miss the train that you chose, you can only throw away the ticket. But Megatrain tix are such a bargain (if you buy a ticket at the station the fare is about £40) that even if your plans are fluid it's worth buying a Megatrain ticket in advance cos the potential savings greatly outweigh the potential waste. :) JB :) Edited August 19, 2015 by John Bull
