Chances of Getting Last-Minute Cruise for this Weekend

Hello,

My mother had planned a trip to San Juan this Thursday-Monday with a friend. Due to the hurricane, she has asked me to check resorts and cruises. She is flying Southwest and can fully refund and switch, so I was checking flights to Fort Lauderdale and the Victory 8-27-8/31 4 night, only to find the cruise sold out. I called Carnival for her and they said if someone cancels, she can get a room. Should she wait and see if someone cancels? Are there any travel agents that could still have a room? Or should she just book a beach resort in South Florida, since she wanted to fly into FLL or PBI anyway.

Thanks so much for any help in advance, still want to make sure she has a fun trip! :D

There is a 5 day Carnival cruise leaving tomorrow out of NYC that goes north to Canada. She should be able to fly on Southwest to Newark, LaGuardia or Islip.

I have done the Canada cruise on Carnival twice and it is great.

Sorry, already checked. Even though she could drive, up she can't change the days she has off this late. Also, she wants to go to the tropics.

I too have done the Canada cruise twice and I love it! :D

There is more than one cruise line who is putting on an Aug. 28th cruise

Aug 28 Miami, FL Miami, FL Carnival / Carnival Ecstasy 3 nights

Aug 28 Miami, FL Miami, FL Norwegian / Norwegian Sky 3 nights

Aug 28 Port Canaveral, FL Port Canaveral, FL Royal Caribbean / Enchantment of the Seas 3 nights

and a 5 night from Jacksonville on the 29th

These are Caribbean cruises

Aug 27 Miami, FL Miami, FL Carnival / Carnival Victory 4 nights

Aug 27 New Orleans, LA New Orleans, LA Carnival / Carnival Elation 4 nights

I would agree with this. I also believe, other cruisers correct me if I'm wrong, she can stay in Nassau for a couple of nights and then cruise back.

Pat

This cruise goes to Freeport, not Nassau.

And the tropical storm is looking to be gone before the weekend. EM

Sorry, but that's kind of hard to believe all are sold out.

Not sure if she is limited to 4 or so days, but check with NCL for the Getaway on the 29th. Seven nights CRB.

Sure, book a beach resort that has 24 hour cancellation policy (the norm in the hotel industry) and put her on a waiting list for the cruise. Have her fly out and if the cruise opens up...hurrah, perfect and just cancel the hotel. If no spot on the cruise is available she has a fall back plan all lined up. Simple.
