Casino players promo

We also received a casino discount on our upcoming Nieuw Amsterdam cruise which amounted to approx. $400 (Canadian) per person. I was told by the HAL phone rep that these discounts are available ONLY if you call to book your cruise and not available online.

Well, i am not sure this is true. I booked through an online agency. I did not even know I qualified for a casino discount. The agent told me the price and said a casino discount was applied. Maybe this is because the agent talked to HAL.

I can see where - if you book yourself on HAL's website - you might not get it.

It's tied to your Mariner number. If the TA has access to HAL's system the promo should be able to be seen. The Casino promo probably has to be activated manually, otherwise you would automatically give up any other HAL promos without having the opportunity to compare. I've always worked my deals with my PCC before transferring to my TA for their OBC and discounts.

Just yesterday we received a mailing from Princess - which we have only sailed twice and the last time was 2008 - offering us casino fares. That last trip was my only "big" win on the slots (about $500, as I recall). Somehow must be connected to the casino fare we recently got on HAL without asking for. Are these fares the new big thing for lines under the Carnival umbrella, I wonder?

I get a casino discount on some Holland cruises. It just shows up when I sign in and do a mock booking. I never got a letter or an email. It just started showing up. At the time I was also getting Princess and Carnival discounts. I have never gotten a casino cash offer.

Like many others I am not a big spender but do usually entertain myself for a while on the slots. We are cruising more now because of it as I suspect it will not last long. I no longer see them on Carnival. Don't know about Princess as one now has to call them and ask for each specific cruise.

  • 3 months later...

I've sailed HAL only once, almost 6 years ago. I had a 13-night sailing booked on Carnival but received an email from HAL (which has sent me mailings and emails pretty much non-stop since my one sailing) detailing huge casino discounts on specific sailings. Their attempts to woo me back worked!

I opted to cancel the Carnival cruise and booked the 1/4/17 Zuiderdam. Two fewer nights, but less than half the price ($299/pp for an inside compared to the listed price of $1199!). I've been wanting to sail HAL again, but, honestly, since I mostly sail solo, I just can't afford them. Well, I can, but only if I want to cut down the number of times I sail, and I'm not willing to do that! ;)

Anyway, my question is do I contact my usual person at the Players Club to see if I'll get any perks or is there a separate contact? On my "regular" Carnival sailing (not the Premier casino sailings that include $$ cash), I usually get a small amount of casino cash. I think I received some on my HAL cruise but no longer have the emails from back then.

Someone listed a phone number but I prefer email, so I can print the response. I'll probably wait to contact them until after I return from my 10/30 Carnival Premier Casino sailing (my 4th in just under 2 years) so my rating will be current.
